Intel Atom Z520

De Intel Atom Z520 is een stroom besparende netbook / MID single-core processor. Vergeleken met de Atom N-serie, ondersteund de Z-serie Virtualizatie vanuit de hardware zelf en heeft hij Idle States en Demand Based Switching functies.

De Atom core werd ontworpen voor een laag stroomverbruik en goedkope productie. Het nadeel is de relatief lage prestaties per Watt verhouding (door de in-order execution) vergeleken met vergelijkbaar geklokte Celeron processorn. De geïntegreerde Hyper-Threading (het besturingssysteem ziet de CPU als een dual core CPU) vermindert het nadeel van de in-order execution wat.

De prestaties van de Z520 zijn enkel vergelijkbaar met een 800-900 MHz geklokte Celeron M en is uitsluitend voldoende voor niet veeleisende taken zoals tekstverwerking of surfen. HD video's afspelen, of enige vorm van beeldbewerking zal niet vlot mogelijk zijn.

Testrapport Asus Eee PC 1101HA Netbook

De Eee PC netbook is gegroeid! ‘Netbook inventor’ Asus presenteert zijn laatste succes met de Eee PC 1101HA. Ookal is Asus constant zijn kleine en mobiele-netbooks aan het uitbreiden en aanpassen, het verschil hiervan is al te zien bij de eerste aanblik. De eerste keer produceerde de netbook pioneer een groter WXGA scherm, van 11,6”, maar desondanks de onvermijdelijke toename van grootte en gewicht, is de Eee PC 1101HA voornamelijk nog steeds gefocust op draagbaarheid. Testrapport Acer Aspire One 751 Mini-Notebook

Wijd, licht en stevig... Acer brengt ons een tot noch toe ongebruikelijke netbook met de 11.6" Aspire One 751 en noemt het een "Breedbeeld netbook". Met name het beeld en geluid zouden adembenemend moeten zijn in de nichemodel, en zou niets te wensen over laten. "Noem het geen netbook!" Sony lanceert een bijzonder soort "PC systeem" met de Vaio VGN-P11Z. De fabrikant bezweert dat het geen netbook is in de persverklaring. "Noem het geen netbook!" werd toen verkondigd. Optisch en op wat betreft afmetingen hoort get in ieder geval thuis in de categorie mini-notebooks. De beperkte verbindingsmogelijkheden en de grootte van het scherm suggereren een netbook. Waroom noemen ze dit apparaat dan niet simpelweg een netbook?
