This rugged handheld PC is designed primarily for business and military use, in circumstances that would cripple a lesser PC. If you need more processing power, but still require an uncompromisingly rugged machine, take a look at the Getac V200 or the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52. When you need basic PC functions that will work under the most extreme circumstances, the Panasonic Toughbook U1-Ultra is the handheld computer you'll want by your side.

Is Panasonic's Toughbook CF-U1 top of the knocks? The Toughbook CF-U1 is referred to as 'extremely rugged', which puts it in Panasonic's top knock-taking category. At just over 1kg it's surprisingly light, and the nine-hour battery life adequately provides for a full day's work in the field. If you want a full-sized laptop then the Toughbook CF-U1 probably won't be for you, but if you can live with the tiny 5.6in touchscreen and the shrunken keyboard, you'll get a seriously tough PC for your money.

If you're considering a Panasonic Toughbook, it's likely that your priorities are relatively different from that of the average consumer. Rugged laptops are designed to meet the adverse conditions that people in the military, construction, and various outdoor professions may face—and come through unscathed. The rugged and ultraportable Pansonic Toughbook CF-U1 certainly isn't for everyone, but even the workers it's designed for might have a hard time dealing with its difficult navigation and tiny screen.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Geïntegreerde (onboard) videokaart op de UL11L, US15L en US15W chipsets met een gelicensieerde PowerVR SGX core. DirectX 10.1 ondersteuning, maar door de lage kloksnelheden (100-200 MHz UL11L-US15) en maar 4 shaders is hij niet geschikt voor 3D games. De geïntegreerde video decodeerder versnelt het afspelen van HD video’s (MPEG2, VC-1, AVC).

Deze grafische kaarten voor notebooks zijn niet bruikbaar voor games. Als ze al games kunnen draaien, dan doen ze dat met grafische afwijkingen en heel lage framesnelheid. Voor gamers zijn deze chips ongeschikt! Kantoor en internet taken zijn, daarentegen, geen probleem voor deze GPUs.
