EN→NL Archive.org versionLooking at a picture of the Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 on a bare table, you'd think it an odd contender in the notebook wars: What's with that relatively small screen centered in a big black bezel? Why is the keyboard layout so funky? Why are the USB ports on the front edge instead of the side or rear? How about it, Fujitsu? Add an inch, lose the touch screen, stretch the battery, say $750? We'd buy one. Maybe two, to keep one in the car.

EN→NL Archive.org versionDespite its abysmal battery life, useless multitouch, and toy-like build quality, there's something about the Japanese version of the Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 that makes it really enjoyable to use. Whether it's the 2.0GHz Intel Atom processor, built-in WiMAX, touch-typable keyboard, excellent mouse controls, great performance, zippy SSD, or a combination of all those elements, I find it hard to put the elongated clamshell down.

It's a device for consuming media rather than creating - it's very difficult to type on its little keyboard or use its undersized touchscreen. However, we do like the fact that it has an integrated 3.5G modem that can be used with the carrier of your choice.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 500: Geïntegreerde (onboard) videokaart op de UL11L, US15L en US15W chipsets met een gelicensieerde PowerVR SGX core. DirectX 10.1 ondersteuning, maar door de lage kloksnelheden (100-200 MHz UL11L-US15) en maar 4 shaders is hij niet geschikt voor 3D games. De geïntegreerde video decodeerder versnelt het afspelen van HD video’s (MPEG2, VC-1, AVC).
Deze grafische kaarten voor notebooks zijn niet bruikbaar voor games. Als ze al games kunnen draaien, dan doen ze dat met grafische afwijkingen en heel lage framesnelheid. Voor gamers zijn deze chips ongeschikt! Kantoor en internet taken zijn, daarentegen, geen probleem voor deze GPUs.

Z530: Stroombesparende versie van de Atom N270 met virtualisatie ondersteuning en meer energie besparingsfuncties. De prestaties zijn vergelijkbaar met de Atom N270 en daarmee enkel geschikt voor basis taken.
