GeForce RTX 4070, 4060, 4050 Laptop Analyse - Nvidia's nieuwe Mainstream Laptop GPU's in Review

Perfect voor QHD en 1080p. Twee weken na de lancering van de nieuwe high-end modellen RTX 4090 en RTX 4080 lanceert Nvidia de nieuwe laptopversies van de RTX 4070, RTX 4060 en RTX 4050. We hebben de drie nieuwe modellen bekeken en ook de kleinere versies bieden merkbaar meer prestaties.

Nvidia heeft zojuist hun nieuweGeForce RTX 4090 laptopenGeforce RTX 4080 Laptopvlaggenschip GPU's in het begin van februari. Onze uitgebreide analyses toonden aan dat de prestaties veel lager waren in vergelijking met hun RTX 40 desktop tegenhangers als gevolg van TGP beperkingen, maar er is nog steeds een grote prestatieverbetering ten opzichte van het oude vlaggenschip modelGeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop. Zowel deMSI Titan GT77(RTX 4090) als deRazer Blade 16(RTX 4080) lieten ook zien dat beide GPU's gemakkelijk high-re schermen inclusief 4K aankunnen. Deze laptops zijn echter erg duur en de nieuwe mainstream GPU's zullen voor veel klanten interessanter zijn.

Vandaag lanceert Nvidia de nieuwe modellenGeForce RTX 4070 laptop,RTX 4060 laptopevenalsRTX 4050 Laptopdie beschikbaar zijn in veel gaming en multimedia laptops. Naast synthetische benchmarks zullen we de gaming prestaties controleren, inclusief Ray Tracing en Nvidia's DLSS upscaling.

Overzicht - RTX 4070, 4060 & 4050 Laptop

De nieuwe modellen GeForce RTX 4070, 4060 en 4050 zijn allemaal gebaseerd op de Ada Lovelace architectuur en alle versies ondersteunen zowel DLSS 3 als raytracing. Er zijn duidelijk verschillen in termen van kerntellingen, die in de onderstaande tabel staan. De RTX 4070 Laptop is gebaseerd op de AD106-chip, terwijl zowel de RTX 4060 Laptop als de RTX 4050 Laptop gebaseerd zijn op de AD107-chip. Alle drie de GPU's kunnen een breed scala aan systemen bestrijken met TGP-instellingen tussen 35-115 Watt met een extra 25 Watt van de processor via Dynamic Boost. Dit betekent dat alle drie de laptop GPU's tot 140 Watt kunnen verbruiken.

U ziet deze waarde echter alleen bij synthetische workloads zoals FurMark. Het stroomverbruik in echte gaming scenario's zal afhangen van de werkelijke GPU belasting, dus het verbruik kan veel lager zijn. Dit is belangrijk wanneer u gaming benchmarks en sensorgegevens analyseert, zodat u niet in paniek raakt wanneer de GPU niet de hele tijd zijn maximale TGP-waarde raakt, omdat alles werkt zoals Nvidia het bedoeld heeft. Het brede TGP-bereik kan ook een probleem zijn voor klanten wanneer laptopfabrikanten geen exacte TGP-cijfers voor hun producten bekendmaken.

Onze analyse van de RTX 4090/480 laptop toonde efficiëntieverbeteringen van meer dan 50%, maar Nvidia adverteert zelfs hogere efficiëntieverbeteringen (3x). De persinformatie toont nu het scenario voor deze claim, die niet erg praktisch is. De vergelijking omvat de nieuwe RTX 4070 Laptop die draait op 40W, die dezelfde prestaties zal bieden als de oudeRTX 3070 Laptop. Er zijn echter geen verdere details over deze vergelijking (zoals de applicatie, game, instellingen, enz.).

We hebben het al gehad over de technische details van de Ada Lovelace architectuur in onze analyse van de RTX 4090/4080 laptop. We wachten momenteel nog steeds op meer informatie en foto's van de nieuwe AD106 en AD107 GPU's van Nvidia en we zullen het artikel bijwerken zodra we kunnen.

Testsystemen

Wij konden meerdere systemen gebruiken om de volgende benchmarkgegevens te verzamelen. Naast winkeleenheden hadden we ook toegang tot technische monsters, die niet aan klanten worden verkocht. Dit betekent dat er op dit moment geen review over deze systemen is, maar we zullen hun retail tegenhangers testen zodra we kunnen.

Alle laptops zijn getest met de maximale prestatie-instellingen en (indien mogelijk) uitgeschakelde iGPU. De twee modellen RTX 4070 Laptop en RTX 4050 Laptop in de XMG-systemen en de Blade 18 zijn de snelste versies van de GPU's met de maximale TGP en de resultaten geven de beste prestaties weer die je kunt bereiken. Gigaybte en MSI gebruiken GPU's met een maximale TGP van 105W (80W TGP + 25W Dynamic Boost).

Synthetische benchmarks

We beginnen met synthetische 3DMark-benchmarks, waarbij de nieuweRTX 4070 laptopde vorige high-end GPURTX 3080 Ti laptopen op gelijke hoogte met deDesktop RTX 3070. Dit betekent ook dat er een enorme prestatieachterstand is ten opzichte van deRTX 4080 laptopwaar de krachtigste versie ongeveer 40% sneller is. De RTX 4070 met 105W in de Gigabyte Aero 16 is daarentegen slechts 4% langzamer.

De 105W RTX 4060 Laptop is ook slechts 13 % langzamer dan de RTX 4070 Laptop in de XMG Neo 17 in de synthetische tests, maar is ook 33 % sneller dan de oudeGeForce RTX 3060 Laptop, dus het is vergelijkbaar met de RTX 3070 Ti Laptop overall.

De nieuwe RTX 4050 toont de grootste verbeteringen met een prestatievoordeel van 74% ten opzichte van de oudeRTX 3050 Ti Laptop. We moeten hier echter een beetje voorzichtig zijn omdat dit de snelste RTX 4050 Laptop is (140W), maar de meeste retail units zullen waarschijnlijk veel lagere TGP specificaties hebben.

Benchmarks voor games

Onze gaming benchmarks zonder raytracing en upscaling laten een zeer vergelijkbare situatie zien in vergelijking met de synthetische tests. Over het geheel genomen is deRTX 4070 laptopis opnieuw zeer vergelijkbaar met deRTX 3080 Ti Laptop, alleen 4K instellingen tonen soms de beperking van het kleinere VRAM. 4K gaming is nog steeds mogelijk met de RTX 4070 Laptop in bijna elke moderne game.

DeRTX 4060 laptopis wederom vergelijkbaar met deRTX 3070 Ti Laptopen is het meest geschikt voor QHD en ook 4K instellingen in veel titels.

Onze snelle versie van de RTX 4050 Laptop is op gelijke hoogte met de GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop in veel gaming benchmarks, wat betekent dat hij ideaal is voor 1080p gaming en ook QHD instellingen in veel titels.

Raytracing-benchmarks

De resultaten verschuiven een beetje zodra je raytracing gaat gebruiken en de RTX 4070 Laptop loopt iets achter op de RTX 3080 Ti Laptop. Je bent in principe beperkt tot de 1080p resolutie als je raytracing wilt activeren; 4K instellingen hebben vaak last van lage fps aantallen.

De raytracing mogelijkheden van de RTX 4050 zijn nog beperkter en zelfs 1080p instellingen zijn soms te uitdagend, dus je moet upscaling gebruiken om vloeiende framerates te krijgen (we behandelen dat in de volgende sectie).

Meestal voeren we onze gaming benchmarks uit zonder upscaling-technologieën zoals Nvidia DLSS of AMD FSR. De prestaties kunnen echter veel voordeel opleveren als de titel het ondersteunt en we merkten enkele grote verbeteringen met geactiveerde DLSS 3.0 zonder visuele tekortkomingen. GPU Efficiëntie

We gebruiken de Witcher 3 test die draait met een extern scherm voor onze efficiëntie test, zodat we de invloed van het geïntegreerde paneel kunnen elimineren. Witcher 3 is ook niet erg veeleisend voor de processor, dus de CPU impact is ook erg klein, We zien de nieuwe RTX 40 modellen de grafiek leiden met de RTX 4090 Laptop bovenaan , gevolgd door de nieuwe RTX 4060 Laptop. We verwachten dat versies van de nieuwe GPU's met lagere TGP-instellingen nog beter zullen zijn in dit opzicht. De enige uitschieter is de GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop, die precies tussen de vorige Ampere GPU's staat. Hieruit blijkt duidelijk dat hoge TGP-waarden niet veel zin hebben voor de RTX 4050.

Er is een merkbare efficiëntieverbetering in het algemeen voor de nieuwe Ada-chips in vergelijking met vorige Ampere GPU's. De vergelijking tussen de RTX 4070 Laptop/RTX 3080 Ti Laptop en RTX 4060 Laptop/RTX 3070 Ti laptop toont een efficiëntieverbetering van 23-24%, wat betekent dat het voordeel van de langzamere Ada GPU's kleiner is in vergelijking met de high-end modellen, waar we efficiëntieverbeteringen tot 53% constateerden.

Verdict - Mainstream Ada GPU's met aanzienlijke prestatiewinst

Ons oordeel over de nieuwe (hogere) mainstream GPU's op basis van de Ada Lovelace architectuur is niet zo goed als bij de high-end versie. Nvidia heeft de prestaties kunnen verbeteren en de nieuwe RTX 4070 Laptop GPU is bij hoge TGP-waarden ongeveer op gelijke hoogte met de oude RTX 3080 Ti Laptop. Er zijn enkele uitzonderingen in 4K-titels waar het kleinere VRAM van de RTX 4070 Laptop een impact heeft. De RTX 4060 laptop is vergelijkbaar met de oude RTX 3070 Ti Laptop en de testest RTX 4050 Laptop is vergelijkbaar met een RTX 3060 Laptop of zelfs iets sneller.

Meer prestaties voor mainstream GPU's: Nvidia's nieuwe RTX 4070 Laptop en RTX 4060 Laptop vervangen respectievelijk de oude GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop en RTX 3070 Ti Laptop. Ze bieden voldoende prestaties voor QHD-panelen en zelfs 4K in sommige games, maar de raytracing-prestaties zijn nog steeds beperkt en je moet vaak instellingen verlagen of DLSS-upscaling gebruiken om vloeiende framerates te bereiken.

Dit is goed nieuws, maar de efficiëntieverbeteringen zijn kleiner in vergelijking met de high-end modellen RTX 4090 Laptop/RTX 4080 Laptop. We zien een verbetering van 23-24 % voor de RTX 4070Laptop/RTX 4060 Laptop, maar we kunnen ook duidelijk zien dat de hoge TGP-versie van de RTX 4050 Laptop niet veel zin heeft en de efficiëntie daalt tot Ampere-niveaus. We hebben eenvoudigweg niet voldoende gegevens voor langzamere versies van de GPU om de efficiëntie te beoordelen. Nvidia's aankondiging met 3x hogere efficiëntie is beperkt tot een zeer specifiek scenario volgens de persinformatie, dus we kunnen deze verklaring niet bevestigen.

De nieuwe GeForce RTX 4050 laptop biedt de gaming prestaties van de oude GeForce RTX 3060 en is het meest geschikt voor 1080p beeldschermen. De raytracing-mogelijkheden zijn echter beperkt.

Het grootste probleem met de nieuwe laptop GPU is het brede TGP bereik en fabrikanten kunnen alle drie de GPU's (RTX 4070, RTX 4060 en RTX 4050) configureren tussen 35-115 Watt of 140W gezien tot 25W Dynamic Boost, respectievelijk. Het zal uiterst belangrijk zijn dat fabrikanten exacte TGP-cijfers bekendmaken voor hun producten, anders kunnen er spec sheet helden zijn die in de praktijk tegenvallen, vooral in slanke laptops met beperkte koelingsmogelijkheden.

We verwachten dat RTX 4070 Laptop en RTX 4060 Laptop zeer vergelijkbare prestatiecijfers zullen bieden en dat je meestal het extra geld kunt besparen voor de RTX 4070 Laptop, vooral op apparaten met 1080p of QHD schermen.
