If you’ve been tempted by the simplicity and hassle-free nature of Chrome OS but wanted a bigger screen, then the Acer Chromebook 15 is for you. We do wish Acer had been more ambitious, opting for a brighter, higher quality, higher resolution screen, even if this had pushed up the price, rather than retreading old ground and taking the easy way out.

Is the Acer Chromebook perfect? To put it flatly, no. If we were sourcing the parts, we would have specified a better, slightly higher-res screen, a Core i3 CPU with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and much better speakers and sound engineering. Of course, then it would be a $400 or $500 Chromebook. For $199, we’re happy to live with its shortcomings in order to be able to afford one (or even two) extra Internet devices around the house.

Het allergrootste nadeel vind ik de kleine letters in de menu's, op de taakbalk en op de tabs van de Chrome browser. Ik kan deze echt niet zonder bril lezen, en ze zijn met geen mogelijkheid te vergroten. Al zitten googlen, maar het blijkt een groot en door Google genegeerd probleem. Het is een HD scherm, en de enige manier om alles te vergroten is de resolutie verlagen, maar dat wil je natuurlijk niet. Op mijn windows laptop kan ik gewoon systeem-breed het scherm zoomen, zodat alles groter wordt.

Acer: In 1976 werd het bedrijf in Taiwan opgericht onder de naam Multitech en in 1987 omgedoopt tot Acer of Acer Group. Het productassortiment omvat bijvoorbeeld laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitoren, tv's en computerrandapparatuur. Sinds 2007 is de groep gefuseerd met Gateway Inc. en Packard Bell, die ook hun eigen productlijnen voor laptops op de markt brengen.
Acer computers zijn ontworpen voor verschillende doeleinden, waaronder ultrabooks voor mobiel gebruik, gaming laptops voor gamers, betaalbare opties voor alledaagse taken en 2-in-1 converteerbare laptops voor veelzijdigheid. Het productportfolio van Acer omvat ook tablets die draagbare computer- en multimediamogelijkheden bieden.
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).
