Als je nog een maandje of twee wacht, heb je daarom een veel betere deal te pakken.

And, of course, that excellent software support remains a key advantage. Samsung fans looking to avoid the high prices of the S series will find the A57 to be the ideal, cost-conscious alternative. If you’re brand-agnostic, however, the Google Pixel 10a is better value overall. The cameras are stronger, the battery lasts longer and you get an extra year of software support.

And while Samsung hits back with top-quality construction and materials, that may not quite be enough for some. Highlights include a solid primary camera and good speakers, but Samsung really needs to get up-to-date with battery tech to make the next Galaxy A phone like this a real competitor for the less geeky shopper working to a sensible budget (same can be said of the S series too). That said, though, I’ve enjoyed using the Galaxy A57 more than some of its more value-packed rivals because of that extra attention to the basics I notice every day. For the 256GB variant, the Galaxy A56 was RM1,999, while the new A57 is at RM2,249 during the promotional period. But… Samsung phone prices are always very different in the retail market. So, when we look Shopee, one of the many e-commerce platforms we have in Malaysia, is already down to around like RM1,900 already. Or, you can also get the 512GB variant at only RM2,100. Remember, it’s a brand new launch. Comparing this retail price with other phones that are in this category, the A57 suddenly becomes a fairly good deal. But then again, the Galaxy S25 FE. It’s basically better in every way and yet the S25 FE is available at only around RM2,200, though the listings seem a bit sussy. Either way, the Samsung Galaxy A57 is a surprisingly good phone and the retail price is also rather enticing, but the S25 FE’s price has dropped so much that we can’t ignore it.

The Samsung A57 is powered by an Exynos 1680 chipset and this can handle a bit of gaming when needed, although the likes of the Poco X8 Pro Max is more capable. Likewise, the camera tech here is recycled wholesale from the old A56, with some of the same issues as the S26 series.

The A57 is a good phone, all things considered, but not at that price. The Galaxy A56 is almost the same phone at half the price, while the Galaxy S25 FE is a flagship device with a similar tag. The Galaxy A57 is a very balanced phone with hardly any shortcomings so it's well worth a recommendation, but until it gets a price cut, it will remain a hard sell.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 smartphone was announced in March 2026. It is a slim, good-looking mid-range phone that does not try too hard to be flashy. It measures just 6.9mm thin and weighs 179g, so it feels light and comfortable in the hand. The build is solid, with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back, plus an aluminum frame. It comes in Navy, Gray, Icyblue, or Lilac. You get multiple SIM options (nano + eSIM, with up to two active at a time, and it is IP68 rated, meaning it can survive a dunk in 1.5m of fresh water for 30 minutes. So yes, rain and accidental spills are no problem. The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display runs at 120Hz for smooth scrolling and hits 1900 nits peak brightness, so sunlight visibility is excellent. Under the hood, Samsung’s own Exynos 1680 chip (4nm) and up to 12GB of RAM handle daily tasks and casual gaming fine, though it is not a flagship beast. The software is a highlight Android 16 with One UI 8.5, and Samsung promises six major Android upgrades, so this phone could last you until 2032 or so. Storage options go up to 512GB, but there is no microSD card slot.

Not to mention the fact that Samsung has added a lot of new AI features that you would otherwise only be able to get on the Galaxy S26 series. The fact that Samsung has increased the price still stings, especially since it seems to be affecting the American market more than the U.K. For the extra money, you'd hope Samsung would offer a little bit more of a substantial upgrade, but that isn't the case, especially not for the Galaxy A57.
