Cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S22 and £300 less than the Pro version, the regular Find X5 is a bit of a steal, and it’s definitely worthy of a place among the best in the business. Hitting the same high notes as its more expensive counterpart, the Find X5 excels in practically every area, with a long-lasting (and fast-charging) battery, a stunning design and a great, colour-accurate display. Even the use of the last-gen Snapdragon 888 isn’t much of a downer, providing rapid performance in our tests. The only real criticism is the lack of an IP rating, but if you can look past this you’ll be rewarded with a truly terrific flagship at an unbeatable price.

The Oppo Find X5 is a fantastic phone with lots to offer across the board, but it especially thrives at taking photos using its advanced three-lens camera system. Alongside that, you also get a sleek curved screen and massive battery life with super-fast charging so you’ll never be caught short again. Admittedly the design on the back isn’t going to wow anyone but most people will cover that up with a case anyway. I would definitely recommend the Oppo Find X5 and actually, I think it’s a better buy than the Pro model if you don’t want such a big screen, you don’t mind losing out a little on display quality and you're not fussed about your next phone being waterproof.

At this price, it’s hard to criticise the Oppo Find X5. It looks good, feels very well built, has a bright, vivid screen that’s great for entertainment, brilliant cameras on the whole, and performs just as well as any flagship. No matter how hard you push it, there’s never any stutter or lag. It is possible to find areas where improvements could have been made, though not necessarily at this price. Chief among these is the lack of an IP rating, so you need to be careful not to get the phone too wet. The cheaper Pixel 6 as well as the more expensive Galaxy S22 are both IP68 rated. The Find X5 isn’t alone though: the Xiaomi 12 also isn't IP-rated. Elsewhere, you could find cause to moan about the fact storage isn’t expandable and that the 256GB model is the only choice. You might even say the Find X5 is a little too expensive and that the telephoto lens has only a 2x zoom. But with rivals failing to offer anything noticeably better for the same cost, the X5 surely deserves a place on your short list along with those already mentioned, plus others such as the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Oppo may be a premium brand in China, but it struggles to compete with the likes of Samsung, Apple and even Xiaomi. In fact, the sister OEM OnePlus still hasn't crossed that line. If the Find X5 gets a significant price cut down the road, it might be worth considering. For now, it's asking way too much for being a nice phone but not a great flagship.

Mijn reviewperiode van de Find X5 Pro voelde als een rollercoaster aan met ups en downs. Ik voel dat er heel veel goede wil is bij OPPO om met de Find X5 Pro een erg goed product neer te zetten, maar ik ben er ook zeker van dat er meer in deze telefoon zit. Allereerst is de hardware en die is erg goed. De telefoon heeft een bijzonder design en een kwalitatieve afwerking over de ganse lijn. OPPO gebruikt verder een goed scherm, heerlijke speakers, een degelijke vingerafdrukscanner en een razendsnelle processor. OPPO kan zich ook echt onderscheiden met de accuprestaties, de verlengde levensduur van de batterij en erg goede snellader. Daarnaast komt het merk innovatief uit de hoek op het vlak van de camera met de optische stabilisatiefunctie via vijf assen en ook de free-formlens voor de groothoekcamera. Toch merk ik bij de camera dat de beeldverwerking niet helemaal is wat ik had gehoopt en als je verder kijkt naar de software dan kwam ik nog meer problemen tegen. Toegegeven na de vervanging van mijn eerste reviewexemplaar heb ik geen kritieke fouten meer gezien, maar het baart me wel zorgen voor de toekomst.

De Oppo Find X5 heeft een schitterend premium design en is gemaakt van hoogwaardige materialen. Having recently reviewed another Find X5 device that had what I considered a ‘strange’ feature I was more careful when I did the setup and this unit did not have it, however as it also did an update to the ‘Color Overlay’ of the Android operating system this could have been why it now works as I would consider all phones should function.

At a glance, the Oppo Find X5 Pro could easily be mistaken for its predecessor. It uses the same unibody design that integrates the rear camera into the body of the phone and even measures in at near identical dimensions and weight. However the X5 Pro’s back panel is now made of a ceramic material rather than glass, which feels nicer to the touch and is less prone to fingerprints. The downside is that the phone feels much slipperier in the hand and the phone slides off surfaces that aren’t level. Thankfully Oppo includes a transparent silicon case in the box as well as a beastly 80W fast charger (more on that later). The Find X5 Pro comes in two colourways – a ‘glaze black’ or a ‘ceramic white’, which is the variant I received for review. Overall, it’s a solid enough design but there’s nothing particularly striking about it to make it stand out from the sea of glass slab phones on the market. I would’ve loved to have seen Oppo offer a vegan leather finish similar to what they did with the Find X2 Pro but the company has chosen to play it safe this time around.

However, it’s a case of cumulative small improvements rather than anything revolutionary compared to 2021’s Find X3 Pro. Performance is still in the same ballpark unless you’re a serious gamer, the futuristic design is ironically very similar, charging support is improved but not really any faster, and Color OS 12 is a little further refined but still bloated in places. Even so, this certainly doesn’t detract from the fact that the Oppo Find X5 Pro is an excellent phone. Oppo has clearly focused its most meaningful changes in the camera department, particularly with its custom Marisilicon X chip and Hasselblad partnership. Oppo is taking photography more seriously, removing gimmicks like the microlens, but the results are still hit and miss. The phone lives up to its marketing with the low light photography and videography capabilities, but these gains are thrown away by the frankly ridiculous color saturation applied to its pictures.

As flagships go, it has essentially everything you’ll ever need and/or want from a phone, and plenty more besides (like its dedicated Hasselblad Color Calibration). The design is unique enough to stand out from the crowd. It runs the latest and greatest chipset from Qualcomm. It has 5G, fast charging abilities, both wired and wireless, and it has plenty of internal storage, starting at 256GB and topping out at 512GB. Add in the option for 12GB of RAM and its gimbal-powered 50MP sensor and you’re looking at one of the most aggressively appointed phones on the market right now. If you can stomach the price tag – £1,039.45 / €1,183.39 / $849.98 – you’re going to be picking yourself a killer, unique-looking flagship Android phone with one of the best cameras and UX designs on the market.

There are a lot of reasons to like the OPPO Find X5 Pro. Case in point, the camera performance is definitely the best thing on the device, alongside the sleek and beautiful design, powerful chipset and crazy fast recharging speed. As much as I was annoyed by the amount of bloatware, you can now remove them in the settings. The battery performance could have been better too, but I was testing its capacity pretty hard, so it would likely perform longer under more normal conditions. On the other hand, the RM4999 price is somewhat a difficult price tag to justify. Many users would comment that you might as well top up a few Ringgit to get an iPhone 13 Pro but even if you discard that, there's still the Samsung Galaxy S22+ that is equally impressive at RM4299 as well as the Xiaomi 12 Pro for just RM3899 with similar tech specs and features. Another competitor is the vivo X80 Pro 5G for the same price but I haven't tested it yet. I think at the end of the day, it really depends on your budget. If you do have the budget and you're an OPPO fan, why not?

Regardless of whether you'll be gaming on it or not, you'll love the smoothness of the UI. The only real consideration is whether you can afford to drop $1000 on a new phone at a time when the price of everything is rising, but the claimed longevity of the battery and high performance helps to justify the long-term value. If the answer is yes, and you want the best images you’ve ever seen from a smartphone, then I would highly recommend the Find X5 Pro.

The screen is beautiful, it’s powerful enough to do everything you need from an Android phone, and the battery will last you a whole day. That doesn’t negate the high price of £1,049 in the UK. The truth is this phone costs more than a Pixel 6 Pro, and for a lot of people, the option from Google will be a better choice. The software is another concern. The cameras on the phone are also positive, with the Find X5 Pro generally clicking really impressive shots using its primary lens. And did I forget about the display? Yes, to complete the package the Find X5 Pro also has one of the most colour accurate panels on a phone right now.

To begin with, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is a gorgeous phone, one that could arguably pass off as the best-looking phone to have launched in the recent past. In fact, it's such a well-designed phone, that its looks alone can be a reason to buy the Find X5 Pro. Then, there's the fact that it offers really fast 150W fast charging and also hides beneath the surface flagship-grade hardware in the form of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The cameras on the phone are also positive, with the Find X5 Pro generally clicking really impressive shots using its primary lens. And did I forget about the display? Yes, to complete the package the Find X5 Pro also has one of the most colour accurate panels on a phone right now.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro is a nice-looking, slick Android phone. It has many of the high-end features you should expect, including Android’s top chip from Qualcomm, good battery life, a great screen, unusual back design and incredibly fast charging. Its main camera on the back is very good, but the phone is let down a little by its ultra-wide camera and its 2x telephoto camera is particularly weak compared with the competition. The ColorOS software is improving, now with four years of support, but it still has lots of little niggles. The biggest problem is the phone’s £1,049 RRP is simply too high for what it offers. When premium rivals offer more capable 4x zoom cameras for less or mega zoom cameras for a little more, five or more years of software support and similar or better screens and designs, Oppo still has much work to do to justify its very high asking price.

I think it’s safe to say that the Oppo Find X5 Pro is out to impress. So what are the downsides, other than the price? Well, there aren't really many at all, and none of them are dealbreakers. If you have small hands then this may feel like a bit of a giant to you, and if you tend to use up a lot of your phone storage very quickly then you might be put off by the fact that there’s no way to expand it using a MicroSD card, although not many flagships do have that now. Another reason you may not like it is the fact that the interface isn’t quite as sleek as stock Android, but even then, you’ll soon get used to Color OS. All in all, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is a fantastic piece of kit that is bang up to date in just about every area - quite frankly, it would be hard not to love it.

The Find X5 Pro has one of the top three displays we've ever seen in a phone, and can go toe to tow or even surpass such flagships like the S22 Ultra or iPhone 13 Pro Max in most other areas such as camera performance, battery life, 5G connectivity, or charging speeds. We'd have to particularly emphasize the ultrawide camera quality that matches that of the main sensor, as well as the fast nighttime shots processed by the in-house MariSilicon X NPU with only the telephoto camera's zoom range being on the midrange side. Despite its numerous virtues, at 1299 EUR the premium ceramic Oppo Find X5 Pro will be priced on par with Samsung or Apple's finest, as usual, which would be a tough hill to climb at launch. If you mange to source it from Asia where it'd be much cheaper, then the Oppo Find X5 Pro is definitely a go, not to mention you can get an exclusive blue leather version there, too.

The Find X5 Pro has one of the top three displays we've ever seen in a phone, and can go toe to tow or even surpass such flagships like the S22 Ultra or iPhone 13 Pro Max in most other areas such as camera performance, battery life, 5G connectivity, or charging speeds. We'd have to particularly emphasize the ultrawide camera quality that matches that of the main sensor, as well as the fast nighttime shots processed by the in-house MariSilicon X NPU with only the telephoto camera's zoom range being on the midrange side. Despite its numerous virtues, at 1299 EUR the premium ceramic Oppo Find X5 Pro will be priced on par with Samsung or Apple's finest, as usual, which would be a tough hill to climb at launch. If you mange to source it from Asia where it'd be much cheaper, then the Oppo Find X5 Pro is definitely a go, not to mention you can get an exclusive blue leather version there, too.

The ceramic finish on the back is fancy, and should prove more long lasting than the glass. Perhaps that’s a big part of the story: longevity. With the more durable finish and more durable battery, and other optimisations in software, you may have a great phone for a few years, rather than just two years. As far as specs and hardware go, it’s up there with the best of them, and we think a lot of people will like the customisation available in the software.

Er valt heel weinig speciaals te vertellen over Find X5 Lite en dat is jammer. Het heeft op zich alles in huis voor de meeste standaard dingen die we tegenwoordig op een smartphone doen, maar qua camera’s had het echt beter gekund. Ook is het jammer dat het scherm luxe amoled is, maar toch wat achterblijft in helderheid. Find X5 Lite steekt bovendien niet bepaald met kop en schouders boven de andere telefoons in zijn prijsklasse uit. Sterker nog, hij is vrij duur: er zijn telefoons van 150 euro minder die ongeveer dezelfde functionaliteiten en kwaliteiten hebben. Wel is het een toestel waarvan je lang het gevoel hebt: heerlijk, een frisse nieuwe telefoon. Dat komt vooral door zijn slanke, lichte uiterlijk en zijn mooie achterkant. Dat heeft OPPO dan ook goed gekozen. Het is alleen jammer dat zodra je de telefoon aanzet of ontgrendeld, er weinig verdere verrassingen overblijven. Hierdoor komt OPPO Find X5 Lite uiteindelijk toch over als een vrij vanille-telefoon die niet lang bijblijft.

The Reno7 5G a.k.a. Find X5 Lite is an excellent smartphone with a well-rounded feature set and reasonable pricing. Sure, there are better phones out there at the same price, but there are weaker, too. The Reno7 5G/Find X5 Lite offers an excellent 90Hz AMOLED screen, bright and responsive. The Dimensity 900 5G chipset is more than adequate for smooth gaming on the go, and coupled with the large battery, it delivers great battery life. We can also praise the cooling and the overall stability of the device. The camera is another aspect that gave us only positive experiences. The photo and video quality across all cameras are very good, and the hardware is consistently reliable. We liked the design, too, even if it's mostly plastic. The LDI process on the blue version is cool and makes for a unique effect and feel on touch. And while flashy, it is still pleasant to look at and can easily match any style - official or casual. Not all is perfect with the Reno7 5G - there are no stereo speakers, no obvious updates over the Reno6 5G, and no ingress protection whatsoever.

The Oppo Find X5 Lite’s web browsing lacked smoothness, which was a distraction when using the screen in its most basic function. The display’s brightness levels are programmed to be adapted to the time of day. While brightness was well suited in low light during the day, we found it to be a bit dim during the night. However, light transitions were correct. The BLF also gave the screen a noticeable orange cast. In outdoor and indoor conditions, the device lacked enough brightness for comfortable reading. In addition, pink and blue stripes were visible on the screen when viewing at an angle. For gamers, the display offered an average experience, with just a few visible frame drops when playing and accurate touch, which offset the aliasing and lack of smoothness when playing. Watching HDR10 videos on the Oppo Find X5 Lite was a poor experience because of the screen’s green cast and very saturated colors. In addition, the low brightness and the low level of details in the dark tones affected the HDR experience

The Oppo Find X5 Lite’s web browsing lacked smoothness, which was a distraction when using the screen in its most basic function. The display’s brightness levels are programmed to be adapted to the time of day. While brightness was well suited in low light during the day, we found it to be a bit dim during the night. However, light transitions were correct. The BLF also gave the screen a noticeable orange cast. In outdoor and indoor conditions, the device lacked enough brightness for comfortable reading. In addition, pink and blue stripes were visible on the screen when viewing at an angle. For gamers, the display offered an average experience, with just a few visible frame drops when playing and accurate touch, which offset the aliasing and lack of smoothness when playing. Watching HDR10 videos on the Oppo Find X5 Lite was a poor experience because of the screen’s green cast and very saturated colors. In addition, the low brightness and the low level of details in the dark tones affected the HDR experience

Oppo:

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Qualcomm Adreno 660:

Qualcomm Adreno 730:

Grafische chip voor smartphones en tablets die geïntegreerd is in de Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Qualcomm claimt dat deze 30% sneller is dan de Adreno 660 in de Snapdragon 888 SoC. Voor Android zou het eind 2021 een van de snelste grafische kaarten moeten zijn.

De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

SD 8 Gen 1:

High-end SoC voor smartphones die eind 2021 werd geïntroduceerd en bij Samsung in 4 nm werd geproduceerd. Integreert één "Prime Core" op basis van een ARM Cortex-X2-architectuur geklokt op maximaal 3 GHz. Drie andere prestatiekernen zijn gebaseerd op de A710 maar klokken tot 2,5 GHz. Verder zijn er vier energiebesparende kernen geïntegreerd die zijn gebaseerd op de ARM Cortex-A510 architectuur en klokken tot 1,8 GHz. Naast de processorkernen integreert de SoC een WiFi 6e modem, een Hexagon DSP (voor AI-versnelling) en een Spectra ISP. De geïntegreerde geheugencontroller ondersteunt snel LPDDR5-geheugen met maximaal 3.200 MHz. 5G is nu opgenomen in de chip met de Snapdragon X65-modem.
