EN→NLThis is no slender reed compared to your average ultra-portable productivity machine but, as 15.6-inch gaming laptops go, it’s pretty good. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7i is touted as the slimmest gaming notebook able to cope with the demands of ray tracing. It’s only 17.9 mm thick, tipping the scales at 1.8 kg. So you could slip it in your carry bag, but you wouldn’t necessarily want to lug it around all day. The game is up as soon as you lift the lid, thanks to the keyboard’s Corsair iCue RGB lighting. You’re hit with a pulsating rainbow of colours rippling across the keys, but thankfully this can be disabled when you need to look a bit less ostentatious during business hours.

EN→NLFor a suggested retail price of P99,995, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i isn’t simply for gaming yet for editing 1080p up to 4K clips as well which makes it an all-rounder beast. The only trade-off for us is that the fans get loud when stressing the system due to intense gaming. The build may decrease the stability of this gaming laptop but we didn’t encounter it. The battery, for us, is quite lower than expected but acceptable since it gives RGB and quite efficient cooling power despite its slim build.

EN→NLOne thing to keep in mind, though, is that Lenovo mentions that they’ve implemented the Max-Q Dynamic Boost technology on the Nvidia GPUs, which allow the system to increase the GPU’s allocated power by up to 15W when needed, while subtracting it from the CPU. That means more power can be allocated to the GPU in games, which could push the 65W 2060 in these laptops to perform closer to a full-power 80W 2060 implementation. However, what I don’t know at this point is whether this is properly supported by both the Intel and AMD variants, or is just something reserved for the Intel configuration.

EN→NLLenovo proclaims the Legion S7 (short for Slim 7) to be ‘the world’s lightest RTX laptop’, which turned out to be an easily disproved statement. The actual lightest RTX laptop is the ROG Flow Z13 from Asus, although that device’s detachable keyboard and dinky 13-inch touchscreen arguably qualify it as more of a hybrid tablet than a true laptop, so we’ll allow Lenovo the loophole. With a weight of 1.9kg, it’s still hard to deny that the Legion S7 is impressively lightweight given its 15.6-inch display and full-scale keyboard. At less than 20mm thick, it lives up to the ‘slim’ moniker too, but doesn’t appear to remotely compromise itself for that slender form factor. In fact, the Legion S7 sits among the very best gaming laptops in terms of design and build quality, despite the relatively sensible asking price of $1,770 (£1,500, around AU$2,510). There are a few different models of the Lenovo Legion S7 available right now, and that price gets you the version we’ve been sent for review, which packs an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor,

EN→NLSlim gaming laptops are still a new category with fewer models available, and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is currently among the best ones you can buy. Despite shaving off its bulk, the Slim has got great midrange performance for a laptop having a combo of the Ryzen 7 5800H processor and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 GPU. The presence of a 1440P 165Hz display is a nice extra, and the battery life is decent for a laptop of this standard. At Rs. 1,44,990, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 goes up against some of the last-gen Asus ROG laptops as well as the Dell Alienware models. While performance on all of them is equally good, the advantage of having a slim-n-trim body makes it easy to carry around. We recommend you should check it out before making a decision.

That comes thanks to its slim form that brings compromises like average battery life, lesser ports and some heating. If that extra portability is not an important factor to you, you may want to look at other options. However, if the portability does sound nice, the Legion Slim 7 is great at what it does and when you plug it in for the full gaming experience, it won’t disappoint most. It also makes for a good content creation machine thanks to the portable form, dedicated graphics and SD card reader.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.
In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.
In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Mobile:
Grafische kaart uit het middensegment voor laptops die gebruik maken van een Turing TU117 chip zonder raytracing en Tensor kernen. Moet iets sneller zijn dan een GTX 1650, maar is ook verkrijgbaar in verschillende varianten met een TGP variërend van 55 - 80 Watt (en twee pakketten).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile:
Mid-range tot high-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Turing-architectuur met ray-tracing en 1920 shaders. Beschikt over verlaagde kloksnelheden ten opzichte van de vergelijkbaar genaamde desktop-variant.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU:
Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

Intel Comet Lake:
i5-10300H:
Op Comet Lake architectuur (4e gen van Skylake) gebaseerde processor voor grote en zware laptops. Integreert vier processorkernen geklokt op 2,5 - 4,5 GHz (4,2 GHz met 4 kernen) die HyperThreading ondersteunen.
i7-10870H:
Op Coffee Lake gebaseerde processor voor grote en zware laptops. Integreert acht processorkernen geklokt op 2,2 - 5 GHz (alle 8 kernen tot 4,2 GHz) die HyperThreading ondersteunen. Vervaardigd op het derde-gen 14 nm Intel-proces.
AMD Cezanne (Zen 3, Ryzen 5000):
R9 5900HX:
Mobiele Octa-Core APU met Zen 3-kernen geklokt op 3,3 tot 4,6 GHz en een Vega grafische kaart met 8 CU's geklokt op maximaal 2100 MHz.
R7 5800H:
Mobiele Octa-Core APU met Zen 3 cores geklokt op 3,2 tot 4,4 GHz en een Vega grafische kaart met 8 CU's geklokt op maximaal 2000 MHz.
Intel Raptor Lake-H:
i9-13900H: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 6 prestatie-kernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading, wat leidt tot 20 threads die verwerkt kunnen worden. De CPU klokt tot 5,4 GHz. Vergeleken met de i9-13900HK wordt er geen eenvoudige overklokfunctie ondersteund, maar wel een volledige vPro-beheerfunctieset.
AMD Phoenix (Zen 4, Ryzen 7040):
R7 7840HS: High-end mobiele 8-core processor gebaseerd op de Zen 4 architectuur. De CPU-kernen klokken tot 5,1 GHz en voeren 16 threads tegelijk uit. Integreert een XDNA Ai-Engine. De TDP is instelbaar tussen 35 en 54 Watt.
