Kort testrapport Schenker XMG Core 17 (Core i7-9750H, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 144-Hz Display) Tongfang GK7CP6R Laptop

Gamer zonder pretenties. De hardware van de Schenker XMG Core 17 kan alle huidige games vloeiend weergeven op het matte 17.3-inch beeldscherm (144 Hz, FHD, IPS). Het notebook kan in hoge mate zelf geconfigureerd worden. Zo is er bijvoorbeeld ruimte voor drie opslagapparaten (2x m.2-2280, 1x 2.5) en kan er tot 64 GB RAM geplaatst worden. Verder is het mogelijk om in de BIOS de CPU en iGPU te undervolten. Het notebook toont geen grote minpunten, maar we missen wel een Thunderbolt 3-poort.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde snelle responstijden in onze tests en zou geschikt moeten zijn voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 10 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (24.4 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 636 (maximum) ms. » 11 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (38.8 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17612 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Schenker levert met de XMG Core 17 een 17.3-inch game notebook die alle huidige games vloeiend kan weergeven op het matte Full HD IPS beeldscherm, dankzij de Core i7-9750H processor en GeForce GTX 1660 Ti grafische kaart. Je speelt altijd op hoge tot maximale detailinstellingen.

Een ander positief punt is dat de Core 17 in tegenstelling tot veel andere game notebooks niet overmatig warm wordt bij belasting. En het notebook produceert ook niet veel geluid - in elk geval niet in idle-modus en bij lage belastingen. Zeker bij idle-gebruik kun je de ventilatoren vaak niet horen. Bij volle belasting is dit echter een ander verhaal.

De XMG Core 17 blijkt een goed gebalanceerd game notebook met een ingetogen uiterlijk.

Het 144 Hz IPS beeldscherm scoort punten met de lage responstijden, stabiele kijkhoeken, goed contrast en fantastische kleurweergave. De helderheid van het beeldscherm is ok, maar had beter gekund voor een notebook in deze prijsklasse. We moeten ook niet de dunne beeldschermranden vergeten te benoemen.

Het notebook biedt plaats aan twee NVMe SSD's in het M.2-2280 formaat die ook in een RAID 0 of RAID 1 opstelling geconfigureerd kunnen worden. Daarnaast kun je ook nog een 2.5-inch harde schijf plaatsen. Upgraden of onderhoud kan zonder veel problemen gedaan worden. Na het verwijderen van de bodemplaat heb je toegang tot alle componenten.

De batterijduur is niet echt uitzonderlijk, maar gewoon goed voor een game notebook. Het chiclet toetsenbord (RGB-verlichting) bewijst geschikt te zijn voor alledaags gebruik. De selectie van poorten is redelijk uitgebreid, maar een Thunderbolt 3-poort ontbreekt.
