Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 11 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (25.3 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (40.3 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 971 Hz ≤ 99 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 971 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 99 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 971 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9524 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

De Schenker XMG Neo 17 is voor het meeste een uitstekende 17-inch game notebook. Het beeldscherm is een plezier om naar te kijken met het hoge contrastverhouding, 144 Hz frequentie en dunne randen. Belangrijker, het notebook kan ook indruk maken in onze game tests dankzij de RTX 2070 GPU. En het mechanische toetsenbord met RGB verlichting is een plezier om op te typen.

De Neo 17 is bijna helemaal te configureren en wordt geleverd met een veelheid aan accessoires, wat altijd welkom is. De Tongfang Barebones behuizing is relatief compact en licht, al is deze wel iets aan de hoge kant.

Schenker moet echter enkele minpunten aanpakken voordat er een echt hoge eindbeoordeling. Ten eerste moet de opvolger voor de Neo 17 in elk geval de optie hebben voor een grotere batterij en moet er een beter touchpad en beter luidsprekers gebruikt worden. Verder zou het goed zijn als het bedrijf de Wi-Fi-module een betere plaats zou geven in de behuizing om het volle potentieel eruit te halen. Ook zou het ventilatorbeheer aangepast moeten worden om Turbo Boost in gebalanceerde koelingsmodus mogelijk te maken. Al met al stoppen deze minpunten de XMG Neo 17 niet voor het halen van een erg goede eindbeoordeling, maar ze zijn wel genoeg om te voorkomen dat deze 17-inch game notebook de nieuwe standaard is geworden.
