Elegante, dunne gaming notebook. De krachtige hardware van de Schenker Key 16 kan alle huidige games soepel op het matte 16,1-inch scherm (FHD, IPS, 144 Hz) draaien. Schenker biedt individuele configuratie-opties, zoals maximaal drie opslagstations (2x M.2-2280, 1x 2.5-in) en maximaal 64 GB werkgeheugen. Bovendien maakt het BIOS een laag voltage van de CPU en iGPU mogelijk.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (24.4 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 25510 Hz ≤ 20 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 25510 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 20 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 25510 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17612 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Met de Key 16 biedt Schenker een slanke gaming-notebook die scoort met een elegante metalen behuizing. Hoewel het apparaat een 16,1-inch beeldscherm bevat, is de notebook over het algemeen nauwelijks groter dan de gebruikelijke 15,6-inch apparaten.

De ingebouwde combinatie van een Core i7-8750H-processor en GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q grafische kaart kan alle huidige games soepel op matte Full-HD-scherm draaien. Elk spel kan met hoge details gespeeld worden.

Schenker heeft veel rekenkracht in een elegante, slanke behuizing gestopt.

Een snelle NVMe SSD zorgt voor een snel en soepel lopend systeem. Er is ook een slot voor een tweede M.2 SSD (NVMe of SATA). Als je twee NVMe SSD's gebruikt, kunnen deze worden samengevoegd in een RAID-configuratie (0 of 1). Bovendien kun je ook een 2,5-inch opslagstation toevoegen. Elke upgrade of onderhoudstaak vereist het openen van de behuizing, wat vrij ingewikkeld blijkt te zijn.

Het 144-Hz IPS-scherm stelt ons tevreden met korte responstijden, stabiele kijkhoeken, een goed contrast en een geweldige kleurreproductie. De helderheid van het beeldscherm had echter beter kunnen zijn. Voor gebruik binnenshuis is de helderheid voldoende.

Hoewel de batterijduur niet veel enthousiasme opwekt, is het prima voor een notebook van deze prestatieklasse. Het chiclet-toetsenbord (RGB-verlichting) heeft bewezen geschikt te zijn voor dagelijkse taken. Dit gaat gepaard met een groot aantal verbindingsmogelijkheden. We missen echter een Thunderbolt-3-verbinding.
