Kort testrapport MSI GL73 8SE (i7-8750H, RTX 2060) Laptop

RTX op een kleiner budget. Zelfs de langzaamste GeForce RTX 2060-laptop kan zo snel zijn als een GTX 1070 Max-Q. Het instapniveau RTX-aanbod van MSI kan bijna net zo goed games draaien als de geavanceerde GE- of GT-serie, wat wel ten koste gaat van aanvullende functies en aansluitmogelijkheden.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde snelle responstijden in onze tests en zou geschikt moeten zijn voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 8 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (24.8 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.9 (minimum) tot 636 (maximum) ms. » 10 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (39.3 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 25770 Hz ≤ 15 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 25770 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 15 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 25770 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 50 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 18215 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Toen we de RTX 2070 Max-Q in de Blade 15 aan het testen waren, zagen we dat de 1080p-prestaties slechts 15 procent hoger waren dan de GTX 1070 Max-Q. We verwachtten dus hetzelfde van de RTX 2060 in relatie tot de GTX 1060. We zijn positief verrast dat de RTX 2060 ongeveer 35 procent sneller presteert dan de GTX 1060 voor een grotere generatie-tot-generatie prestatiewinst . De chip is nog wel wat langzamer dan de GTX 1070 en dus hebben huidige bezitters van een GTX 1070 geen reden om te wisselen - althans totdat DLSS en ray tracing meer gemeengoed worden. In feite heeft de RTX 2060 meer gemeen met een GTX 1070 Max-Q dan de GTX 1070, zelfs wat betreft stroomverbruik.

Enkele opvallende kenmerken van de MSI GL73 zijn de ruimte voor drie interne opslagstations, zeer luide luidsprekers en een hoogwaardig 120 Hz-paneel, die allemaal relatief zeldzaam zijn bij budget gamingnotebooks. Houd er rekening mee dat de ventilatoren behoorlijk luid kunnen zijn tijdens het gamen en dat de batterijlevensduur slechts een paar uur is. De rest van de laptop is representatief voor een standaard budgetlaptop, van de kunststof oppervlakken tot kleine scharnieren. We raden een kalibratie van de eindgebruiker aan om ook een veel nauwkeurigere kleurweergave te krijgen.

De belangrijkste kenmerken die ons beletten de MSI GL73 beter te verklaren dan de concurrerende Asus TUF FX705 zijn de dikkere beeldranden en het grotere formaat. Kerntemperaturen zijn koeler dan de Asus en er is meer ruimte voor opslagstations, maar de waarde van deze afwegingen is afhankelijk van de gebruiker.

Als mobiele GeForce RTX geen must-have optie is, dan zullen systemen met de laatste generatie GTX 1070 goede alternatieven zijn, vooral nu de prijzen van GTX gaming-laptops zijn gedaald.

 

De MSI GL73 heeft alles wat u nodig hebt voor een instapmodel 1080p-gamingnotebook, van de ruime opslagmogelijkheden tot het snelle 5-ms / 120 Hz-beeldscherm en de next-gen Nvidia Turing-grafische kaart. Als je echter vaak reist, is het misschien de moeite waard om de meer draagbare Asus TUF FX705 te overwegen.
