De Spectre x360 14 ondersteunt Wi-Fi 6 en Bluetooth 5.0, dankzij een Intel communicatiemodule (AX201). De Spectre x360 14 haalt geen goede snelheden in onze Wi-Fi-test. Het 13,5-inch OLED-paneel van de Spectre x360 14 heeft een uitstekende contrastverhouding (37000:1) en een uitstekende zwartwaarde (0,01 cd/m²). Ook de resolutie (3000x2000) en de responstijden liggen op een zeer hoog niveau. De maximale schermhelderheid van 373,8 cd/m² is heel behoorlijk. Het IPS-paneel (1920x1280) van het zustermodel biedt echter een iets hogere maximale schermhelderheid (393,6 cd/m²). HP biedt ook een model van de Spectre x360 14 met een 1000-cd/m² paneel (IPS, 1920x1280).

Bij 10% helderheid en lager flikkert het OLED-paneel met een frequentie van 250 Hz. Omdat de frequentie zo laag is, kunnen gevoelige personen hoofdpijn en/of vermoeide ogen krijgen wanneer ze het apparaat gedurende langere tijd gebruiken.

Direct uit de doos is de kleurnauwkeurigheid op een goed niveau. We hebben een Delta-E 2000 van 2,6 gemeten, een zeer behoorlijk resultaat. Het scherm heeft geen last van een blauwzweem. Door kalibratie kan de kleurweergave iets worden verbeterd: De Delta-E 2000 daalt naar 2,3 en ook de grijstoonvolging verbetert

Het voorgeïnstalleerde hulpprogramma "HP Display Control" kan worden gebruikt om de kleurweergave aan te passen. In de standaardmodus dekt het beeldscherm 100% van de sRGB-kleurruimte. Het paneel dekt ook 86% van de AdobeRGB kleurruimte.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 250 Hz ≤ 10 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 250 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 10 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 250 Hz is redelijk laag en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering kunnen dit dus waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen (gebruikmakend van de vermelde helderheid en lager).

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9689 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 151500) Hz waargenomen.

De kijkhoeken van het OLED-paneel zijn zeer goed. Buiten kan de scherminhoud moeilijk leesbaar zijn vanwege het reflecterende schermoppervlak

Systeem Instellingen

Processor

De Core i7-1165G7 een quad-care (Tiger Lake) CPU van Intel. De processor heeft een basisklok van 2,8 GHz en een boostklok van 4,1 GHz voor alle cores en 4,7 GHz voor één core. Hyper-threading (twee threads per één core) wordt ondersteund.

In het multikerngedeelte van de Cinebench R15-benchmarks werkt de processor op 1,6 tot 3,8 GHz. In de single-core benchmarks draait de CPU op 2 tot 4,7 GHz. Dit is het prestatieniveau dat we zien wanneer de laptop is aangesloten op het lichtnet. Wanneer hij op de batterij werkt, dalen de kloksnelheden aanzienlijk.

We controleren of de Turbo boost over een langere periode kan worden gebruikt door de Cinebench R15 multi-core benchmark gedurende 30 minuten in een continue lus te laten draaien. De CPU was alleen in staat hoge kloksnelheden te bereiken aan het begin van de CB 15 loop. De kloksnelheden daalden af en toe tot onder de basisfrequentie. In de prestatiemodus waren de kloksnelheden hoger, maar minder stabiel.

Opslagapparaten

Ons review apparaat is voorzien van twee Intel NVMe SSD's (1 TB, 32 GB), die zijn ondergebracht in één M.2-2280 module. De 32 GB SSD dient als cache voor de 1 TB solid state drive. De 32 GB SSD wordt verondersteld de schrijfsnelheden te verhogen en de laadtijden te verlagen.
