Al met al zijn we behoorlijk positief over de Asus ZenBook Flip (UX360CA). Vooral vanwege het feit dat de fabrikant een premium look en feel aan het apparaat heeft meegegeven. Het omhulsel voelt luxueus aan en straalt dat ook uit. Het apparaat is behoorlijk dun en in verschillende standen te gebruiken (tent, laptop, tablet, scherm rechtop) en daardoor ook voor meerdere doeleinden inzetbaar. Het grote scherm kan mooie plaatjes genereren en het geluid is bovengemiddeld goed te noemen, met zijn heldere klankweergave.

Toch moeten we een kanttekening plaatsen wat betreft de prijs: 999 euro vinden we namelijk erg veel. Voor een paar honderd euro minder kun je al een goede Core i7-laptop kopen, die misschien wel wat zwaarder is en geen scherm heeft dat je kunt omklappen, maar wel betere prestaties biedt. Maar voor mobiliteit, zuinigheid en compactheid moet je nog steeds vrij diep in de buidel tasten, waardoor deze ASUS niet voor iedereen is weggelegd.

Asus has been in a rich vein of form with the ZenBook range. It has been the go-to place to find an ultraportable laptop that won’t break the bank. However, this new 360-degree hinge version ultimately disappoints. Issues include a drop in build quality, a problematic trackpad and a display that, while good in several respects, has a dated and highly reflective screen architecture. Having liked and loved several previous mid-range ZenBooks, we were hoping to have similar feelings about the Asus ZenBook Flip UX360CA. Its concept is sound, and so is the hinge that brings that concept to life. However, the new benefits are outweighed by the new problems. Hopefully they’ll be addressed in a future update of this design.

Its overall performance isn’t quite up to scratch compared to other £750 laptops – you can get the same kind of performance from Asus’ own excellent UX305CA for £150 less, after all, but that model doesn’t come with a rotatable hinge. The Lenovo Yoga 700 is a little faster for roughly the same price as the UX360CA, but if you’re looking to save some money and aren’t fussed about the hinge, then I’d still recommend the UX305CA as my mid-range laptop of choice. It might not be a hybrid, but it’s just as fast as the UX360CA and shares the same high-end build quality.

We were keen to take a look inside the ZenBook however the two halves of the chassis are joined by a couple of ribbon cables that were glued in place. We may well have been able to unpeel the cables but it felt like a risky move so we backed off rather than breaking one of only a handful of sample ZenBooks at the time of writing.

Al met al ben ik zeer tevreden met deze convertible ultrabook van Asus. De kleur is wat opvallend, en het glimmende scherm is niet voor iedereen weggelegd. De accuduur en het feit dat hij ook als tablet gebruikt kan worden maakt voor mij veel goed. Qua prestaties is het geen snelheidsmonster, maar daar koop je deze laptop (hopelijk) ook niet voor. Voor alledaags gebruik is het een prima ding en heb je er waarschijnlijk jarenlang plezier van.

Eerste indruk is goed, met twijfel of ik niet liever een surface had gekocht. Dit vanwege compacter, lichter, active pen, mooier scherm. Ga systeem steeds meer waarderen.

The price is reasonable considering there's a 512GB SSD - the 128GB model is priced much lower, but you can still get better performance and a more elegant body if you choose an ordinary laptop.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).
