Het is moeilijk om niet gecharmeerd te worden door de kleine Surface Go. Microsoft levert bijzonder kwalitatieve hardware af, met een volwaardige Windows-ervaring. De prijs ligt in praktijk hoger door het optionele toetsenbord, maar al bij al is het een schappelijke prijs als je het totaalplaatje vergelijkt. Dit kan wel eens ons favoriete toestel zijn dat het evenwicht tussen productiviteit en entertainment het beste bereikt.

The iPad Pro’s keyboard isn’t nearly as good as the Surface Go’s, despite its size, and Chromebooks can’t run full desktop apps. As a straight-up tablet, the Pro wins, but that’s not why you buy a Pro to begin with.

But I’ll say this: Having just written an article demanding that manufacturers stop shipping systems that drop below their minimum base clocks, I feel obliged to stick to it. If the Pentium Gold 4415Y can’t hold its base clock, then the Surface Go isn’t a system ExtremeTech recommends. Period. I’m not going to pretend that we’re Consumer Reports, but somebody somewhere has to take a stand for the idea that customers deserve the performance they pay for. Going forward, we will not recommend a system that can’t maintain its minimum CPU clock under ordinary test conditions that represent standard workloads.

De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.
