The ASUS VivoBook Pro 15 N580VD is a tremendous leap forward compared to what seems to be its predecessor – the ASUS N552VX, except in terms of image quality. The presented panel here drags behind its predecessor in terms of brightness, color accuracy and sRGB coverage although, the latter won’t be noticed, especially with a naked eye, since the difference is merely a few percents. Still, we can’t get past the fact that the display uses PWM for regulating screen brightness so using our Health-Guard profile might be the smart thing to do if you experience fatigue or other kinds of effects from the high-frequency PWM.

Though it's heavier than the VivoBook, weighing closer to six pounds, you're getting a 1060 GTX graphics card for about $200 less. Plus, the black on black design doesn't look too shabby either. I'm not saying the VivoBook is a bad laptop (quite the opposite, actually), but it might not work for everyone.

Overall, this is an excellent device. The OLED display does have its downsides, but the contrast ratio of OLED is hard to ignore. The Vivobook Pro 15 is well-built, stylish, thin, light, and packed with some great component choices. Perhaps the best part of all is the price though. At $1100 USD for the Ryzen 7 model with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage, it is certainly one of the most affordable ways to get into an OLED notebook. If you know how to treat the OLED right, this notebook will easily return the favor. It is a joy to use, and the display, despite its downsides, is wonderful.

This is why we see two USB Type-A 2.0 ports, instead of 3.2. However, you still get Thunderbolt 4 connection, so we think that the compromise is definitely worth it. Now, the lack of memory expansion options is a bit of a bummer, but if you configure your machine with the 16GB offer, you should be good to go for the next couple of years. Battery life is on point, as the 63Wh unit lasts for 10 hours and a half of Web browsing, or around 9 hours of video playback. This should allow you to get through an entire workday of light use without the need for a charger. ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED (K3500)’s AMOLED panel has a Full HD resolution, high maximum brightness, and comfortable viewing angles. The nature of the panel means that you get a practically infinite contrast ratio and a super-fast pixel response time. In addition, it fully covers both the sRGB and the DCI-P3 color gamuts, which makes the image look really attractive.

De Vivobook Pro 15 OLED heeft wat budgetvriendelijke eigenschappen zoals te zien in de behuizing, camera, audio, koeling en aansluitingen. Een beperkte monitor output (HDMI 1.4 in plaats van 2.0) en de soms behoorlijk aanwezige ventilatoren vallen bij mij het meeste op. Dat gezegd, er valt bij realistische verwachtingen en na wat aanpassingen in de koelprofielen heel prettig mee te werken, zeker als je het prachtige OLED scherm meerekent. Als ‘creator’ wil je verder wel goed voor de dag komen, dus houd voor dat videogesprek met je nieuwe opdrachtgever wel een betere webcam achter de hand. Onder de motorkap vindt je een rappe acht kernen Ryzen 7 5800H APU en Nvidia RTX 3050 grafische kaart die voor een vlotte werkervaring zorgen bij de meeste vormen van ‘creatieve productiviteit’. Voor de all-round creative is deze laptop in mijn optiek daarom zeker geen slechte koop, zowel in puur functionele zin als voor de prijs (op moment van schrijven 999,- euro). Voor de normale kantoor-thuis gebruiker is hij ook prima geschikt, maar is de RTX 3050 in de praktijk wellicht overkill.

De ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED N6506MV is een zeer uitstekende laptop met razendsnelle performance en koeling. Door zijn snelle Core 9 Ultra en RTX 4060 Studio is geen enkele videorender of game hem te baas. Daarbij is zijn toetsenbord geweldig en zijn OLED-scherm zeer vibrant en een genot om naar te kijken. Hierbij heb je genoeg poorten om al je apparatuur aan te sluiten waardoor het werken met een dongle verleden tijd is. Waarin de Vivbook helaas tegenvalt is de speakerkwaliteit en de accuduur. De accu gaat helaas niet heel lang mee als je hem gebruikt voor kantoortaken. Voor creatorwork en gamen zelfs minder. Waardoor je snel de lader erbij moet pakken om je werk te vervolgen. Ook zijn de speakers zeer teleurstellend, de bass is te dominant waardoor het geluid compleet wegvalt. De bouwkwaliteit van deze laptop is aardig solide alleen bestaat grotendeels uit plastic.

Deze Asus gekocht als vervanging van mijn HP Spectre x360 15-df1550nd. De HP deed het prima maar merkte wel dat de snelheid op den duur wat minder werd en toch vaker bleef hangen met bepaalde programma's sommige spellen waren ook nog amper te spelen (Fusion 360, INSTA360 studio, Davinci Pro, Cities Skyline 2, F1 22)

The ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED (N6506) is a nice surprise in its class. It’s a multipurpose device because of the powerful hardware and the great OLED display (Samsung ATNA56AC02-1 (SDC4180)). The latter has a 3K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and infinite contrast ratio which is great news for all users. The panel is very color-accurate and it covers 100% of the sRGB and DCI-P3 gamuts. The only con of this screen is the PWM usage but there is an “OLED Flicker-Free Dimming” slider in the MyASUS app. This option is a life-saver for people who are going to use the device for long hours of work or watching movies in a dimmed environment. The so-called IceCool Pro cooling system is capable. The powerful Core Ultra 9 185H and the GeForce RTX 4060 can maintain high clocks no matter the load.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Pascal GP108-gebaseerde grafische kaart voor laptops en laptop-versie van de GeForce GT 1030 voor desktops. Biedt 384 shader-cores en meestal 2 GB GDDR5 met een 64-bit-geheugenbus. Gefabriceerd in 14nm.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs:
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoC's op basis van de nieuwe Gen. 12-architectuur met 96 EU's (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). De kloksnelheid is afhankelijk van het processormodel. De Tiger Lake chips worden geproduceerd in het moderne 10nm+ proces bij Intel.
AMD Vega 8:
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart van de Ryzen-APU's gebaseerd op de Vega-architectuur met 8 CU's (= 512 shaders) en een kloksnelheid tot 1750 MHz.
AMD Vega 6:
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q:
Mid-range discrete grafische kaart voor dunne en lichte laptops gebaseerd op de GTX 1650 maar met verlaagde kloksnelheden en energieverbruik. Is gebaseerd op de Turing-architectuur (TU117-chip in 12-nm-FFN) maar zonder ray-tracing of Tensor-cores.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU:
Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

Tiger Lake (H45-serie) gebaseerde high-end octa-core SoC voor gaming laptops en werkstations. De acht CPU-kernen klokken met 2,5 - 4,9 GHz. De geïntegreerde UHD Graphics GPU biedt 32 kernen op maximaal 1,45 GHz. De chip is vervaardigd in het 10nm SuperFin (verbeterd 10nm) proces.

i9-13900H: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 6 prestatie-kernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading, wat leidt tot 20 threads die verwerkt kunnen worden. De CPU klokt tot 5,4 GHz. Vergeleken met de i9-13900HK wordt er geen eenvoudige overklokfunctie ondersteund, maar wel een volledige vPro-beheerfunctieset.

Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 6 prestatiekernen en 4 efficiencykernen. De prestatiekernen bieden hyper threading, wat leidt tot 16 verwerkbare threads. De processor draait op frequenties van 1,7 tot 4,7 GHz en ondersteunt vPro.
AMD Phoenix (Zen 4, Ryzen 7040):
R9 7940HS: High-end mobiele 8-core processor gebaseerd op de Zen 4 architectuur. De CPU-kernen klokken tot 5,2 GHz en voeren 16 threads tegelijk uit. Integreert een XDNA Ai-Engine. De TDP is instelbaar tussen 35 en 54 Watt.
Intel Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 9 185H: Een top-of-the-line Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 16 kernen (6 + 8 + 2) en 22 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 6 zijn, draaien op maximaal 5,1 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. De 8-core Arc GPU, net uit de oven, doet dienst als geïntegreerde grafische adapter - deze draait op maximaal 2,35 GHz - en er is nog een heleboel andere gloednieuwe technologieën beschikbaar, zoals de geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU met twee Gen 3 engines voor hardwarematige AI-werklastversnelling. Het "basis"stroomverbruik van deze laptopprocessor is 45 W, terwijl het Turbo stroomverbruik niet boven de 115 W mag komen.
