De POCO F7 Pro is een zeer goed toestel, maar de fabrikant is vergeten de puntjes op de i te zetten. Voor 559,90 euro krijg je een prachtig scherm en een prima updatebeleid. De Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 levert snelle prestaties, waardoor je uitstekend kunt gamen en multitasken. De batterij is gigantisch en kan razendsnel opladen. Als extra bonus zit het oplaadblok gewoon in de doos. De camera’s maken prima foto’s. Als ik mag zeuren, dan kunnen de portretfoto’s beter. Hiernaast wordt het toestel snel warm in de gamemodus, maar dit is geen ramp. Ook zonder de modus presteert de smartphone goed. Het enige echt grote minpunt is de softwareschil. De telefoon oogt druk en de animaties zijn wat stroef. Dit laat het navigeren van de menu’s wat traag lijken. Gelukkig heb je hier in je apps geen last van. Al met al is het een goede keuze. De pluspunten overheersen de negatieve punten met gemak, waardoor ik de POCO F7 Pro zeker kan aanraden.

Well, here we are. The final verdict. The Poco F7 Pro is a pretty decent phone. It carries over many good things from the Ultra model, such as the great screen and the decent main camera. But it also makes some sacrifices, featuring a year-old chipset and a pretty mediocre ultrawide camera. Oh, and there's no wireless charging on board. Then again, the phone comes with a 6,000 mAh battery and offers amazing battery life, and the overall aesthetics are also quite pleasing. At the end of the day, the price tag is the main drawback of this model. At 599 euros (just 100 down from the Ultra model), the sacrifices are too many to justify the cost. You can get a OnePlus 13R or wait for the upcoming Pixel 9a and probably get a better bang for your bucks.

Well, here we are. The final verdict. The Poco F7 Pro is a pretty decent phone. It carries over many good things from the Ultra model, such as the great screen and the decent main camera. But it also makes some sacrifices, featuring a year-old chipset and a pretty mediocre ultrawide camera. Oh, and there's no wireless charging on board. Then again, the phone comes with a 6,000 mAh battery and offers amazing battery life, and the overall aesthetics are also quite pleasing. At the end of the day, the price tag is the main drawback of this model. At 599 euros (just 100 down from the Ultra model), the sacrifices are too many to justify the cost. You can get a OnePlus 13R or wait for the upcoming Pixel 9a and probably get a better bang for your bucks.

I'm mega impressed with how sharp it can capture a moving subject (like my dog mid-air flying after a tennis ball), and I think in this aspect it might even be better than the Samsung S25 Ultra, which I've recently tested. Despite this being an AI camera phone, it's very subtle. There's no overprocessing images with ultra HDR, but the shots do look very well exposed and sharp in every scene. I'm hoping to dive deeper into the Poco F7 Ultra's camera the more time I spend with it, but as far as first impressions go, this Poco knocked it out of the park for me.

It brings a telephoto camera to the lineup and it's a standout performer not just among Pocos (which don't normally have telephotos at all), but among similarly priced competitors. You may have to learn to live with only a modest ultrawide, selfies are merely alright like on most other Xiaomis, there's no eSIM support (at least on our unit), and sourcing an adapter that can max out the F7 Ultra's charging speed could prove tricky. In the end, I’m a bit torn with the Poco F7 Ultra. Yes, it’s Poco’s most powerful phone to date, and it has a strong spec sheet. But I don’t think it lives up to that promise of an ‘Ultra’ phone in the way Poco would like you to think. For one, its processor feels like it’s underclocked compared to other Snapdragon 8 Elite phones like the OnePlus 13 and Honor Magic 7 Pro. The 120W charging speeds don’t seem to refill the phone as quickly as it should, and the camera system is inconsistent, and not as strong as what you’d find in the more expensive ‘Ultra’ phones. That’s without mentioning the Wi-Fi connectivity issues I experienced during testing. Still, it delivers on the typical Poco benchmarks.

The Poco F7 Ultra is a powerhouse with that 8 Elite chipset, so gamers will enjoy a smooth frame rate at all times. Battery life is also excellent, even if the capacity isn't a match for the Redmi K80 Pro. With 120W fast charge on board, this phone powers back up in a crazy short time. As for the camera tech, well, the Poco F7 Ultra has made some sacrifices there vs proper 'Ultra' smartphones. The zoom lens isn't as capable, while you can't shoot 4K video with the selfie camera. Still, most people should be happy enough with the Poco F7 Ultra's skills.

You may have to learn to live with only a modest ultrawide, selfies are merely alright like on most other Xiaomis, there's no eSIM support (at least on our unit), and sourcing an adapter that can max out the F7 Ultra's charging speed could prove tricky. But these don't sound like dealbreaking offenses to us - maybe just the eSIM bit, and only to a certain crowd. Those aside, the F7 Ultra doesn't have any notable shortcomings. It's got a strong game on the fundamentals - the display is top-notch, charging speed potential is among the best in class, speakers are great, the chipset is plenty powerful. Gaming performance is respectable on the POCO F7 although the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 does heat up under a bit of pressure, when playing Wuthering Waves. Likewise, Xiaomi's HyperOS isn't for everyone and features like eSIM support are missing. However, for a budget-friendly mid-range price in the UK, Xiaomi's POCO F7 has a lot going for it. That AMOLED screen is a stunner and the design is an improvement on the Pro and Ultra, I reckon. Just go for the white rather than silver limited edition model if you hate fingerprints. The POCO F7's camera setup is limited, especially vs the Ultra or the Nothing Phone 3a duo. No telephoto zoom, just a basic ultra-wide shooter, that's it. All the same, you'll get good looking photos in most conditions, especially if you take your time and grab a couple of snaps just in case.

It's cheaper than all of the above and gets the basics right, so if you don't mind the aforementioned cons, you can get a lot out of this guy.

Xiaomi:

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Qualcomm Adreno 750:

Grafische chip voor smartphones en tablets die is geïntegreerd in de Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Qualcomm claimt dat hij 25% sneller is dan de Adreno 7340 in de Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 en uit eerste benchmarks blijkt dat de GPU de Apple A17 Pro iGPU kan verslaan.

Qualcomm Adreno 830: Geïntegreerde grafische eenheid in de Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC voor smartphones met drie schijfjes van elk 1,1 GHz. Geïntegreerde 12 MB gedeelde cache voor de drie schijfjes. Volgens Qualcomm 40% sneller dan de vorige generatie (Adreno 750).

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8:

SD 8 Gen 3: High-end SoC voor smartphones die eind 2022 werd geïntroduceerd met een snelle primaire kern gebaseerd op een ARM Cortex-X3-architectuur geklokt op maximaal 3,2 GHz. Twee andere prestatiegerichte kernen zijn gebaseerd op de A715 en ondersteunen ook alleen 64-bits toepassingen. De twee extra A710-kernen ondersteunen ook 32 bit-toepassingen, net als de energiebesparende Cortex-A510-kernen. Naast de processorkernen bevat de SoC een WiFi 7 modem, een Hexagon DSP (voor AI-versnelling) en een Spectra ISP. De geïntegreerde geheugencontroller ondersteunt snel LPDDR5x-geheugen tot 4.200 MHz. 5G is opgenomen in de chip met de Snapdragon X70 modem.

SD 8 Elite: High-end SoC (System on a Chip) voor smartphones die eind 2024 werd gepresenteerd. Het bevat twee snelle Oryon Gen 2 Prime Cores tot 4,32 GHz en 6 kleinere Oryon Gen 2 Performance Cores tot 3,53 GHz.
