It can be viewed as a portable sibling to the Origin EON18, with many of the same configuration options. The Origin EON15 doesn't come cheap, with a bare-bones configuration costing $2200. Nonetheless, if price is no obstacle, it represents an enticing proposition for gamers on the go.

When configured with a core i7 and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M or 980M, the price creeps north of the $2,000 mark and our decked out 1080p model is a painful $2,737. But if you're in the market for absolute power laptop in a (hefty) 15.6" package, there are few laptops that can touch the EON15-X.

Exercise a bit of modesty though and you can snag yourself a fantastic gaming machine for about $2,200 (e.g. Intel Core i5-4690K, 980M, 240GB SSD). At this price, the EON15-X closes in on being competitive with the Alienware 15. Alternatively, opting for a GTX 970M, i5-4460 and 1080p gaming will get you below the $1,800 mark. Relative to its peers, that’s not bad.

It doesn’t offer “desktop-class” performance or any of that guff, it actually offers desktop performance in a laptop. Period. That makes the EON15-X a perfect laptop for someone who needs just that. But the costs are obvious. The battery life is pretty dismal (though no worse than what we've seen from other big gaming laptops, such as the MSI GT80 Titan SLI). The real snag for me is the screen. As I said, it’s almost, almost a deal breaker in brightness. Because battery life is already subpar, why not put a little more juice into the screen?

This is nice but the primary feature for the SSD is not standard and requires upgrading an already expensive system such that it costs over $2000. This is probably not an issue for some but many may opt for slightly lower performing but certainly adequate gaming laptops.

EN→NL Archive.org versionThe Origin EON15-S is certainly one smokin’ laptop. It’s truly a desktop replacement in every sense of the word, as long as you’re content with gaming at 1080p. We love the build options too, as it has something for everyone and doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg; we also like the solid battery life and lifetime support from Origin. It does have only an average screen and a ho-hum chassis design, but if you’re just looking for a no-frills gaming rig that slips into your backpack, this laptop fits the bill nicely.

Granted, the EON15-S did not blow up our benchmark charts, but it did deliver smooth framerates at its native 1920x1080 resolution. For example, it averaged more than 73 frames per second in both Bioshock Infinite and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and hovered around 55 FPS in Rise of the Tomb Raider. It also delivered great productivity performance in PCMark 8, just in case you need to get some work done in between all that gaming.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870: High-end DirectX 11 videokaart gebaseerd op een desktop HD 5770. Door de 128 Bit memory bus, enkel snel met GDDR5 geheugen (anders vormt het geheugen een bottleneck).
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M:
Snelste high-end grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Maxwell GM204-chip van de GeForce GTX 900M-serie.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile:
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile:
Pascal-gebaseerde high-end grafische kaart voor laptops uitgerust met GDDR5 grafisch geheugen. De prestaties zouden vergelijkbaar moeten zijn met die van de GTX 1080 voor desktops.

430M: De Core i5-430M is een middenklasse dual core CPU met een L2 cache van slechts 3MB (vergeleken met de i7-640M) en een kloksnelheid tussen 2,26 en 2,53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Verder heeft hij geen VT-D, trusted Execution of AES functionaliteiten. Dankzij Hyperthreading kan hij wel 4 threads gelijktijdig uitvoeren. Een geïntegreerde videokaart (Intel HD Graphics geklokt tussen 500-733MHz) en een DDR3 geheugen controller zitten bij in de processor verwerkt.

Haswell-gebaseerde quad-core processor geklokt aan 2.6 GHz met ondersteuning voor Turbo Boost tot en met 3.6 GHz. Beschikt over een geïntegreerde HD Graphics 4600 GPU en een dual-channel DDR3-geheugencontroller.
De Intel Core i7-4720HQ is een high-end quad-core processor voor laptops. De CPU is gebaseerd op de Haswell-architectuur en gefabriceerd in 22nm. Dankzij Hyperthreading kunnen de vier cores tot en met acht threads in parallel aan, wat leidt tot een efficiënter gebruik van de CPU. Elke core biedt een basiskloksnelheid van 2.6 GHz maar kan dynamisch overklokt worden met Turbo Boost tot en met 3.4 GHz (voor 4 actieve cores), 3.5 GHz (voor 2 actieve cores) en 3.6 GHz (voor 1 actieve core). In vergelijking met de vorige i7-4710HQ, is de i7-4720HQ precies 100 MHz hoger geklokt.

Gewoonlijk hebben subnotebooks, ultrabooks en redelijk lichte laptops met een 12-16 inch schermdiagonaal dit gewicht.
3.4 kg:
Normaal hebben laptops met een 17 inch schermdiagonaal dit gewicht. Dit is redelijk zwaar voor een 15 inch laptops maar aanvaardbaar voor toestellen bedoeld voor stationair gebruik.
75.77%: Dit cijfer is niet echt overtuigend. Het moet in acht worden genomen dat er bijna geen laptops zijn die een score onder de 60% hebben. Dit notebook is beneden gemiddeld beoordeeld, en is niet aanbevolen te kopen.
