EN→NLThe MSI Stealth A16 AI Plus is sold exclusively at Best Buy for $2,000 MSRP. However, at the time of this writing, the model has been discounted to $1,700. I recommend picking up the laptop at that price, especially as a desktop replacement. With the right laptop docking station, you can connect to a pair of external displays to enjoy everything it offers, although its 16-inch WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600 pixel) display is still quite nice.

EN→NLI can’t say I’m a big fan of the MSI Stealth A16 AI+. Yes, it offers a comfortable keyboard and touchpad experience. I even like that it supports long gaming battery life, all packed into a svelte chassis. However, it falls short on performance and with its display. Both are respectable, but they can’t justify the Stealth’s $2K price. For the same price, you can buy the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9, which supports a brighter and more colorful display, a faster SSD, and much stronger overall performance. Overall, the MSI Stealth A16 AI+ is a decent gaming laptop, but it’s one that you should wait to get on a severe discount ($500 at minimum).

It’s quick enough to handle demanding content creation, has a GPU that can play modern games at respectable resolutions and detail settings (and accelerate some productivity tasks), and has battery life long enough to make the laptop a good travel companion. This isn’t the best laptop for any single job. Some alternatives have better battery life, stronger performance, or a superior display. But if you need a laptop that can handle a bit of everything, the Stealth A16 AI+ fits the bill. And, speaking of bills, it’s not especially expensive; the base MSRP of $1999.99 compares well to more luxurious alternatives like the Dell XPS 16, Asus ProArt P16, and Razer Blade 16.

However, our experience with the retail unit we purchased quickly derailed that initial excitement.

It also comes with a solid port selection and a tactile keyboard. Just watch out for a higher price and meagre battery life. With this in mind, you can get RTX 5080-powered laptops with more performance for the same price with either IPS or punchy Mini LED screens such as the MSI Vector 16 HX AI A2XW (2025) and the Medion Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate (RTX 5080). Those also offer stronger battery life, although at the expense of portability. For a slender gaming laptop that packs a punch, the MSI Stealth A16 AI+ (2025) is a sublime choice. Wat ons betreft is de MSI Stealth 16 nog altijd de ideale laptop voor veel verschillende doeleinden. We hebben hele zware laptops die nog wat sneller zijn, maar die zijn verdomd irritant om rond te sjouwen en hebben niet de accuduur van de Stealth. We hebben ook hele lichte laptops die langer op een accu mee gaan, maar daar kan je bij lange na niet zo lekker op gamen of zwaarder werk op doen. De Stealth zit in dat segment waar je een mooie balans haalt: redelijk draagbaar, genoeg prestaties voor zwaarder werk, enorm capabel in gaming (op 1600p), wel voorzien van een chic scherm, fijn toetsenbord, et cetera. Ja, er zijn tal van goedkopere laptops waar je ook gewoon goed op kan gamen, maar significant goedkopere modellen zullen veelal ergens inleveren: beeld, accu, CPU, et cetera.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) werd in 1986 opgericht in Taiwan. MSI is vooral bekend als fabrikant van moederborden en grafische kaarten voor pc's, maar biedt ook computeraccessoires, complete systemen, moederborden, grafische kaarten, laptops, desktop-pc's, monitoren en andere componenten. De merknaam Microstar behoort in Duitsland echter toe aan het bedrijf Medion. MSI staat bekend om zijn gamingproducten en heeft een breed scala aan gaminglaptops en desktop-pc's ontwikkeld. Het bedrijf is ook actief in werkstations, servers en industriële automatisering. MSI heeft kantoren in Noord-Amerika, Europa, Azië en Australië.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

AMD Strix Halo/Point (Zen 5/5c, Ryzen AI 300):
Ryzen AI 9 365: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in juni 2024 zijn debuut maakte. De Ryzen AI 9-serie APU wordt geleverd met 10 CPU-kernen, de 12 CU RDNA 3+ Radeon 880M grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. Er is nog steeds geen PCIe 5 ondersteuning en 6 van de CPU-kernen zijn langzamer dan de andere 4.
Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: Een krachtige chip uit de Strix Point familie die naar verwachting in juni 2024 zijn debuut zal maken. De APU heeft naar verluidt 12 CPU-kernen, een 16 CU RDNA 3+ grafische adapter en een 45 TOPS neurale engine.
AMD :
Ryzen AI 7 350: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in oktober 2024 zijn debuut maakte. De APU met hybride architectuur heeft 8 CPU-kernen (een mix van Zen 5- en Zen 5c-kernen) die op maximaal 5,0 GHz draaien, samen met de Radeon 880M grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. De AMD Secure Processor (in een notendop een on-package ARM co-processor) is ook aan boord, net als een paar andere high-end functies, zoals AMD-Vi. Andere belangrijke kenmerken zijn PCIe 4, USB 4 en tot LPDDR5x-8000 RAM ondersteuning, inclusief ECC RAM. De TDP vermogensdoelstelling voor de lange termijn kan oplopen tot 55 W.
