The 14-inch Slim 7i stands as one of my all-time favorite Windows laptops, and the Ultra Aura Edition (Gen 11) carries over much of what I valued in its predecessors. With Panther Lake, this ultra-lightweight PC lasts all day (and beyond), but I'd happily trade some of its battery life for the higher-end Core Ultra X7/X9 processors that Lenovo currently offers outside the US. With the Core Ultra 7 355, it'll still have tremendous appeal towards frequent travelers.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura Edition sure does have "aura", as the kids say. If you do shell out the cash required to grab one, you won't regret it, but if you're looking for something that's the ultimate value, this machine isn't it. It's beautiful, light, performant, and a superb example of what Panther Lake is capable of.

60% I reviewed the Lenovo Yoga 7 Slim Ultra and it almost made me enjoy Windows again

If you're set on getting a thin and light Windows laptop, you have better options. To name a couple, we really liked the Acer Swift Edge 14 -- and while it's not as light at the Slim 7 Ultra, it's close. But if you want my strongest recommendation, I'd have you consider the 2026 version of the ASUS Zenbook 14, which has the speedy ARM-based Snapdragon X2 Elite 18 core CPU in a package that weighs just tad more than this Lenovo and has much better battery life. But me? I'm sticking to Mac, but I will say that if this laptop had better performance, more ports, was less money and had a less reflective screen, the weight factor could compel me to buy one of these for personal use, but I wouldn't switch from my MacBook Pro. Overall, I find Windows much less satisfying to use than MacOS and so only if the notebook's hardware was extremely compelling would I switch — this comes close, but not close enough.

The question of "should you buy this laptop" is hardly a straightforward yes or no. For me, performance matters. I'm not going to drag-race this mid-range laptop basically ever, and the heaviest workload it's going to see is Photoshop, but on the odd chance I do open up Premiere Pro, choose to compile some code locally, or play the odd game, I don't want to be reminded that I bought a laptop that had a poorly refreshed architecture.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.

In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.

In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 PTL: De Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 is een geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Panther Lake SoC's met 4 Xe3-kernen (32 EU's / 512 ALU's), 4 raytracing-kernen en een kloksnelheid tot 2450 MHz.

AMD Radeon 840M: Een vrij krachtige iGPU met RDNA 3.5 architectuur die begin 2025 debuteerde en een directe opvolger is van de Radeon 760M. De 8 CU's/WGP's (512 unified shaders) draaien op maximaal 3 GHz. DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing, AI-beeldgeneratie en andere moderne functies worden allemaal ondersteund, net als veel populaire videocodecs, waaronder in de eerste plaats AVC, HEVC, VP9 en AV1. De gamingprestaties zijn goed genoeg voor het spelen van 2024 games op lage grafische instellingen.

Intel Panther Lake:

Ultra 7 355: Mobiele mid-range 8-core SoC uit de Panther Lake familie met 4 Xe3 GPU-kernen. Net als bij Lunar Lake biedt de ingebouwde NPU 5 50 TOPS en nu ondersteuning voor FP8.

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:

Ryzen AI 5 430: Een mobiele middenklasse SoC uit de Gorgon Point processorfamilie. De APU bevat 4 CPU-kernen (1x Zen 5-kernen met maximaal 4,5 GHz en 3x Zen 5c-kernen met maximaal 3,4 GHz). Technisch vergelijkbaar met de oudere Ryzen AI 5 330.
