Although it tested below the Acer Swift 14 in several benchmarks, I found the performance more than enough. Also, the Swift 14 will cost you about $300 more. So it all depends on your needs and budget, but the ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 would be an excellent choice for a startup on a budget.

In our case, the device that we have bought has a Core i7-1355U under the bonnet. The machine feels snappy for daily or office tasks as well as for video calls. The build quality is very good but the lid can’t be opened with a single hand. The upgrade options are good. Sure, part of the memory is soldered but there is a SODIMM for future memory expansions. The maximum possible capacity of 48GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM should be enough for most users. One of the two M.2 slots is for Gen 3 SSDs but it’s not a big deal considering the price of the laptop. You can install a Gen 4 SSD in this slot but the speeds will be limited. We are happy to see that the overall performance isn’t hindered by the DDR4 memory. The Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 (Intel) is a well-built sturdy business device that doesn’t cost much but it can offer adequate performance, good comfort under load, a PWM-free IPS display, and a modern I/O.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" uit de Engelse legende, novo (Latijn voor nieuw) werd in 1984 opgericht als Chinees handelsbedrijf in computers. In 2004 was het bedrijf de grootste laptopfabrikant in China en, na de overname van IBM's pc-divisie in 2005, de op drie na grootste ter wereld. Naast desktops en notebooks produceert het bedrijf monitoren, projectors, servers, enz. en is het gespecialiseerd in de ontwikkeling, productie en marketing van consumentenelektronica, pc's, software, bedrijfsoplossingen en aanverwante diensten.
In 2016 stond het bedrijf op de eerste plaats in de wereld wat betreft computerverkopen. Dit was in 2023 nog steeds het geval, met een wereldwijd marktaandeel van ongeveer 23%. Belangrijke productlijnen zijn Thinkpad, Legion en Ideapad.
In 2011 verwierf het een meerderheidsbelang in Medion AG, een Europese fabrikant van computerhardware. In 2014 werd Motorola Mobility gekocht, wat Lenovo een boost gaf op de smartphonemarkt.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Geïntegreerde grafische kaart van de Ryzen-APU's gebaseerd op de Vega-architectuur met 8 CU's (= 512 shaders) en een kloksnelheid tot 1750 MHz.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs:

R7 7730U: Een op Zen 3 gebaseerde octa-core APU voor laptops die draait op 2 GHz tot 4,5 GHz en voorzien is van de Vega 8 iGPU (8 CU's geklokt op maximaal 2.000 MHz). Vernieuwing van de 2022 Ryzen 7 5825U met dezelfde specificaties.
Intel Raptor Lake-U:
i7-1355U: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 2 prestatie-kernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading, wat leidt tot 12 threads die verwerkt kunnen worden. De CPU klokt van 1,2 tot 5 GHz. De TDP is gespecificeerd op 15 Watt.
