Toshiba's Portégé A30-D-139 maakt een gemengde indruk, ondanks zijn goede tot erg goede score. Dit is hoofdzakelijk te danken aan de kleinere problemen met de touchpad, evenals het onaanvaardbare geluid en de trage SSD van ons testtoestel.
De doelgroep van mobiele office-gebruikers en surfers wordt perfect bediend. In tegenstelling tot de concurrentie wordt de Portégé vergezeld door een docking-poort en beveiligingsfeatures waar enkel de merkbaar compactere Huawei MateBook X aan kan raken. Het testtoestel is hoe dan ook relatief groot en zwaar ten opzichte van de concurrentie. De tester vond dit echter nooit een belangrijk nadeel. We hebben nauwelijks klachten over de stevige, hetzij imperfect gefabriceerde behuizing.
Het toestel verdient lof omwille van zijn batterij die eenvoudig te verwijderen is van buitenaf, het prima scherm, en bovenal voor het bijna geruisloze systeem. Het feit dat de fabrikant niet voor een i5-processor heeft gekozen, maar voor de nog altijd voldoende snelle i3-7100U heeft dit mede mogelijk gemaakt. Zelfs in onze stress-test werd de chip nauwelijks tot zijn (thermische) limieten gebracht.
We kunnen deze keer slechts een voorwaardelijke aanbeveling maken. Zal het touchpad vaak gebruikt worden? Zijn het gewicht en een erg compacte/slanke behuizing belangrijk? Zal de laptop veel gebruik worden om naar muziek te luisteren? Zijn TB3 en/of DisplayPort een vereiste? Iedereen die 'nee' antwoordt op de meeste van deze vragen, kan zijn zoektocht naar een laptop beter voortzetten. Al de rest zal waarschijnlijk best tevreden zijn met de nieuwe Portégé.
