Prijs-prestatiekampioen. Lenovo rust zijn nieuwe ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 uit met dual-channel RAM, AMD Ryzen 4000 en een kleinere behuizing. Het nieuwe model is niet probleemvrij, maar op veel belangrijke punten presteert de Lenovo laptop. De lage prijs is een extra troef.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17612 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Lenovo heeft één fout gemaakt met de ThinkPad E14 Gen 1: het geheugen downgraden naar één kanaal voor een dunner chassis. De Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 corrigeert deze fout. Tegelijkertijd biedt het de beste prestaties van elke E ThinkPad tot nu toe, dankzij AMD Ryzen 4000.

Met dat in gedachten blijft de ThinkPad E-serie natuurlijk een budgetgerichte laptopserie. Dit verklaart het relatief donkere en kleurzwakke scherm, de ontbrekende microSD-sleuf en de goedkope poortselectie. ThinkPads uit de L- en T-serie hebben hier voordelen, en hetzelfde geldt voor de beschikbare zakelijke functies. Ook warmt de ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 onder belasting op rond de polssteun, en de materialen die hier worden gebruikt, maken het chassis zwaar. Daarnaast kan de batterijlevensduur beter zijn.

ThinkPad-invoerapparaten, AMD Ryzen 4000 en betaalbaar: als je op zoek bent naar deze combinatie, zou de ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 de ideale keuze kunnen zijn voor een laptop voor thuiskantoren, hoewel de kostenbesparingen van Lenovo voor sommige gebruikers een probleem kunnen zijn.

Als je bereid bent je verwachtingen voor het scherm en de poortselectie te verlagen, kan de Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 nog steeds aantrekkelijk zijn. De zeer goede invoerapparatuur, de compacte behuizing en de stille ventilator zijn allemaal wenselijke attributen. De E14 AMD is ook behoorlijk te upgraden, en met AMD Renoir heeft hij een geweldige prijs-prestatieverhouding. Voor prijsgevoelige klanten kunnen we de ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 aanbevelen.
