Intel's Comet Lake-gebaseerde NUC is een zeer kleine en vooral energie efficiënte mini PC met voldoende prestaties. Ons NUC105i5FNK testmodel is te koop voor iets meer dan € 800 en beschikt over een Intel Core i5-10210U, 8GB RAM, een 256GB SSD en een Windows 10 licentie. Hiermee is het systeem in principe klaar voor gebruik. Als je echter liever zelf de componenten wilt installeren kan je de NUC ook bestellen zonder SSD, RAM en een Windows licentie. Op die manier geef je nog maar € 500 uit.

Als je op zoek bent naar een kleine mini PC kan je niet verkeerd gaan met Intel’s NUC NUC10i5FNK. Up-to-date componenten en krachtige prestaties zorgen voor een aantrekkelijk totaalplaatje, ook op langere termijn.

Met betrekking tot prestaties, is de compacte PC uitgerust met up-to-date hardware, zoals de nieuwste Wi-Fi technologie en Intel’s Comet Lake SoC (Intel Core i5-10210U). In totaal 4 microfoons en een infrarood ontvanger maken dit toestel bijzonder interessant als een streaming box. Het toestel heeft genoeg externe poorten ondanks het gebrek aan een tweede HDMI poort, die plaats moest maken voor een Thunderbolt 3 poort. Deze is moderner en veelzijdiger toepasbaar. Een SD-kaartlezer is nog steeds inbegrepen, deze ondersteund zelfs UHS-II.

De uitstraling van het toestel samen met de bouwkwaliteit zijn uitstekend. Dat gezegd hebbende hadden we toch liever een mat oppervlak aan de bovenkant gezien. De glanzende bovenkant ziet er zonder twijfel fantastisch uit, maar deze zal waarschijnlijk niet zo lang mooi blijven. Een andere nadeel was het koelsysteem. Aan de ene kant werkte het erg goed onder belasting en hield de SoC de hele tijd koel. Aan de andere kant is het koelsysteem zeer luid omdat de ventilator altijd aan staat, zelfs bij lage belasting. Gelukkig wordt het geluid alleen echt irritant onder zwaardere belasting.
