Zakelijke Bristol Ridge. Het kloppende hart van HP's 12.5-inch Elitebook is een AMD APU. Daarmee behoort HP tot een van de weinige fabrikanten die nog AMD APU technologie gebruikt in de zakelijke sector. Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 18270 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

De EliteBook 725 G4 is een zogenaamde 'goedkope' versie van de EliteBook 820 G4. Het apparaat ziet er vanaf de buitenkant hetzelfde uit. De 725 G4 bevat ook een hoogwaardige behuizing en goed toetsenbord; het prijsverschil wordt veroorzaakt door de minder krachtige APU van AMD.

Het CPU onderdeel van de APU kan overduidelijk niet tippen aan de Intel processor van het zustermodel. Echter, de APU biedt voldoende rekenkracht voor zakelijke applicaties. In ruil presteert de AMD GPU beter dan de Intel versie.

De EliteBook 725 G4 is gemaakt voor gebruikers die minder waarde hechten aan CPU prestaties en batterijlevensduur.

Het apparaat wordt nauwelijks warm en produceert weinig geluid. Echter, wanneer de ventilator sneller begint te draaien ontstaat er een fluitend geluid - net zoals bij het Intel model. Dit zou niet mogen voorkomen bij apparaten in deze prijsklasse. Vooral aangezien de 725 G3 en 820 G3 voorgangers hetzelfde probleem kenden.

Een ontzettend snelle NVMe SSD zorgt voor een responsief systeem. De SSD vervangen is mogelijk wanneer de bodemplaat verwijderd wordt. HP heeft de EliteBook uitgerust met een IPS paneel dat over de gehele linie een goede indruk heeft achtergelaten. Het is een helder, contrastrijk model met brede kijkhoeken en goede kleurrepresentatie.

Daarnaast bevat ons testmodel een LTE modem. Toegang tot het Internet of bedrijfsnetwerk is dus gegarandeerd. Ook zijn we te spreken over de batterijlevensduur, hoewel het zustermodel nog langere looptijden te bieden heeft. Een garantie van drie jaar rondt het pakket af.
