Conclusie - Premium convertible met problemen

De Asus ZenBook Flip S UX371 is een premium toestel voor bijna 2500 euro. In ruil daarvoor krijg je tal van features, te beginnen met de uitstekende behuizing, de gloednieuwe Tiger Lake-processor en de zeer goede invoerapparaten. Ook krijg je een 4K-OLED-touchscreen, dat een geweldig beeld oplevert maar door hoge kleurafwijkingen niet geschikt is voor serieuze foto-/videobewerking. Het paneel maakt ook gebruik van PWM. De twee stereoluidsprekers maakten een positieve indruk en Thunderbolt 4/Wi-Fi 6 zijn de modernste standaarden die je op dit moment kunt krijgen.
De implementatie van de nieuwe Tiger Lake-processor laat echter gemengde indrukken na en er is zeker ruimte voor verbeteringen. Een stille ventilator in combinatie met verminderde prestatiecijfers is absoluut een goed compromis voor de meeste gebruikers en alledaagse taken. We houden ook van de verschillende ventilatormodi, maar een prestatiemodus zou ook moeten resulteren in hogere prestatiecijfers, zelfs als dat betekent dat je te maken krijgt met een luidere ventilator. Andere Windows-energieprofielen resulteren in een luidere ventilator, maar er is nog steeds geen prestatievoordeel vanwege lagere TDP-beperkingen.
Stille ventilator, maar verminderde prestaties: de ZenBook Flip S kan de prestaties van de nieuwe Tiger Lake-processor niet ten volle benutten. Het OLED-scherm zorgt voor een zeer levendig beeld, maar verbruikt veel stroom en verkort de batterijduur.
Het verhoogde stroomverbruik van het 4K-OLED-scherm is een ander probleem. 7-8 uur zou in de praktijk het maximum haalbare moeten zijn, al valt dit een stuk lager uit als je hogere helderheidsniveaus gebruikt. We herkennen dit probleem van andere toestellen met een OLED-scherm, dus het standaard 1080p-scherm is de betere keuze voor mobiele gebruiksscenario's.
