Dit testrapport was vooral gefocust op de prestaties van de snellere componenten en Apple's inspanningen wat betreft emissies en looptijden. De aparte AMD Radeon Pro 460 GPU heeft de beste indruk achtergelaten, aangezien deze ongeveer 40% (gemiddeld) sneller is dan de Radeon Pro 450 instapmodel. We vinden dat dit de meerprijs van €200 rechtvaardigt.

We zijn niet zo onder de indruk van de processor. De Core i7-6920HQ is ongeveer 10-15% sneller dan de reguliere Core i7-6700HQ, maar dit geldt ook voor de nieuwe quad-core i7-7700HQ, waardoor je in feite $300 betaalt voor een 'oude' upgrade. De architectuur van de CPU is identiek, dus de Skylake modellen vervangen door de nieuwe Kaby Lake CPU's zou geen probleem moeten vormen, maar Apple gebruikers zullen waarschijnlijk moeten wachten op de nieuwe uitgave.

We kunnen de GPU upgrade zeker aanbevelen, maar de prestaties van de instapmodel processor zijn meestal voldoende.

Een ander onnodig probleem is de beperkende stroomadapter. De volle prestaties kunnen niet benut worden wanneer beide componenten zwaar belast zijn. Het feit dat het koelsysteem nog reserves heeft maakt dit probleem nog frustrerender. Andere voor- en nadelen zijn hier natuurlijk ook toepasselijk, dus verwijzen we je graag door naar het volledige testrapport van het instapmodel.
