Van alles wat. Acer's nieuwste notebook scoort punten met de compactheid, veelzijdigheid en nieuwe GeForce MX150. Kleine problemen met het beeldscherm en luidsprekers doen afbreuk aan de multimedia ambities, maar dankzij de goede invoerapparaten, beveiligingsmogelijkheden en uitstekende looptijden is het een zeer geschikt apparaat voor op kantoor.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 80 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd slechter is dan het gemiddelde (26.6 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (42.7 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 1087 Hz90 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 1087 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 90 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 1087 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 56 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 7774 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

De hoge prijs van ongeveer €950 in acht genomen laat de nieuwe Acer Aspire Swift 3 SF315-51G-55Z9 steken vallen wat betreft de slechte geluidskwaliteit en het teleurstellende beeldscherm. Visueel ziet alles er goed uit, behalve die opvallende vingerafdrukken. Misschien ziet het apparaat er weer goed uit als alles onder de afdrukken zit.

Afgezien van de oppervlaktes scoort de behuizing punten met relatief kleine afmetingen en een beperkt gewicht. Ook de bouwkwaliteit laat niets te wensen over. Dankzij de goede invoerapparaten, TPM, vingerafdrukscanner en lange looptijden, is de lichte, compacte en koele Swift 3 geschikt voor mobiel zakelijk gebruik. Tenslotte is er eindelijk de Nvidia GeForce MX150: een waardige opvolger van de gedateerde 940MX. Dit komt ten goede van de gaming prestaties en de GPU is in staat om mooie beelden te leveren.

Met de nieuwe Swift 3 brengt Acer een veelzijdige notebook met gaming ambities op de markt. Het apparaat zal zeker aanhang vinden onder kopers die op zoek zijn naar een compacte, lichte notebook met extra beveiligingsopties.
