Ik heb deze laptop uitgezocht om te gebruiken als werklaptop. Omdat ik Linux gebruik en wat last had van de Nvidia drivers op mijn vorige laptop, heb ik nu gekozen voor een laptop zonder Nvidia. Ook wildie ik graag weer eens AMD proberen. De laatste keer dat ik AMD had, was het een AMD k2-350. Al weer een aardige tijd geleden dus. Ik moest er even op wachten, ik zag ze af en aan op voorraad maar niet deze specifieke configuratie. Blijkbaar heb ik iets andere wensen voor een werklaptop. Na een maandje had IT de laptop binnen en kon ik hem ophalen. Netjes verpakt en fijne ervaring om uit te pakken. Al een goed begin dus. Ik _moest_ Windows een paar keer opstarten omdat ik niet meer wist welke F-toets ook al weer het bootmenu te voorschijn tovert en ik links begon en het F9 was kon ik vanaf de USB stick booten om Linux erop te zetten.

The EliteBook X gets a lot right. It's beautifully built, mostly very well designed, and it's a genuinely pleasant laptop to use. For a faintly reasonable £1,500, you get a premium-feeling 14-inch laptop that can tackle most applications – and even the occasional game – without breaking a sweat. Frankly, only the battery life disappoints. However, once you start looking at the more luxurious models with OLED panels and upgraded specifications, the value for money starts to wane. As the price rises, it becomes increasingly hard to justify buying an EliteBook X over a more luxurious EliteBook Ultra. You'll want to weigh up the benefits carefully. At the right price, the EliteBook X is a good laptop – almost a great one – but the dizzying number of close relations in HP's portfolio means that it pays to shop around diligently before hitting the buy button.

A laptop that can keep going for two days, or even more, is a wonderful thing to see. The HP EliteBook G1i is intended to be a business machine, but as an Intel-based Copilot+ plus PC it has plenty of NPU power and enough of a GPU to handle most creative tasks, though it will be slower than a discrete chip.

HP: Het Amerikaanse bedrijf werd opgericht in 1939 en is een belangrijke server- en printerfabrikant en een van de toonaangevende IT-bedrijven ter wereld. Tot 2015 heette het bedrijf Hewlett-Packard Company. Na een splitsing werd de computerdivisie omgedoopt tot HP Inc.

In 2023 had HP een geschat marktaandeel van 22% van de wereldwijde pc-verkoop, waarmee het nummer 2 werd na Lenovo.

Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

AMD Radeon 890M: Een krachtige RDNA 3+ architectuur iGPU die in juni 2024 zijn debuut maakte.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Arc 140V: Een behoorlijk snelle geïntegreerde grafische adapter die naar verluidt bepaalde Intel Lunar Lake processors gebruiken. De 140V heeft 8 kernen met Xe²-architectuur die draaien op maximaal 2.050 MHz en 8 ray tracing-eenheden; hij is geschikt voor DirectX 12 Ultimate en ondersteunt ook alle moderne videocodecs. Als recente uitgelekte benchmarkscores een indicatie zijn, zullen de gamingprestaties iets beter zijn dan die van de GeForce MX570.

AMD Radeon 880M: Een matig krachtige iGPU met RDNA 3+ architectuur die in juni 2024 op de markt kwam.

AMD Strix Halo/Point (Zen 5/5c, Ryzen AI 300):

Ryzen AI 9 HX 375: Een krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in juli 2024 met weinig fanfare werd gelanceerd. De Ryzen AI 9-serie APU is uitgerust met 12 CPU-kernen, samen met de 16 CU RDNA 3.5 Radeon 890M grafische adapter en de 55 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. Er is geen PCIe 5 ondersteuning en 8 van de CPU-kernen zijn langzamer dan de andere 4.

Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in oktober 2024 zijn debuut zal maken. De APU heeft volgens de beschrijving 8 CPU-kernen (4 Zen 5-kernen en 4 Zen 5c-kernen) die op maximaal 5,1 GHz draaien, samen met de Radeon 880M grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. De AMD Secure Processor (in een notendop een on-package ARM co-processor) zal waarschijnlijk ook aan boord zijn. Andere belangrijke kenmerken zijn PCIe 4, USB 4 en ondersteuning voor LPDDR5x-7500 RAM, inclusief ECC RAM. De door AMD aanbevolen TDP ligt comfortabel op 28 W.

Intel Lunar Lake:

Core Ultra 7 268V: De op één na snelste Lunar Lake processor bij lancering. Dit is een SoC voor gebruik in slankere tablets en laptops met 4 gloednieuwe E-cores en 4 ietwat nieuwe P-cores die tot 5,0 GHz draaien, samen met de veelbelovende nieuwe Arc 140V iGPU en 32 GB on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Een nieuwe 48 TOPS neurale engine, TB 4 en PCIe 5 SSD ondersteuning zijn ook inbegrepen. De 268V zal waarschijnlijk geen nieuwe prestatierecords vestigen. We verwachten dat hij multi-core prestaties zal leveren die vergelijkbaar zijn met die van de Core i7-1260P en Core 5 120U.

Core Ultra 7 258V: Een processor uit de Lunar Lake familie voor het hogere middensegment. Dit is een SoC voor gebruik in slankere laptops en tablets met 4 nieuwe E-cores en 4 nieuwe P-cores op maximaal 4,8 GHz, samen met de veelbelovende nieuwe Arc 140V iGPU en 32 GB on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Een nieuwe 47 TOPS neurale engine, TB 4 en PCIe 5 SSD ondersteuning zijn ook inbegrepen.
