The Hewlett Packard EliteBook 8540p is a nice notebook. The relatively high screen resolution is a real draw, and we found the keyboard to be well made and easy to use at full touch-typing speed. It is big and heavy and so not designed for portability, though. And it is expensive too.

In summary, you can’t go wrong with the EliteBook 8540p (or the 8xx0 series for that matter). With this flagship business line HP has combined good looks, ruggedness, high performance, and tons of features into one extremely attractive package. The 8540p has a reasonable starting price (for an enterprise notebook) and a lot of options to jack it up if you’d like (quad-core processors, 8GB RAM, SSDs, etc.), but even this base-level unit was impressive.

NVIDIA Quadro NVS 5100M:
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

540M: De Core i5-540M heeft slechts 3MB L3 Cache (vergeleken met de Core i7-640M) en heeft een kloksnelheid tussen de 2,53-3,06 GHz (Turbo Mode). Dankzij Hyperthreading kunnen er 4 threads gelijktijdig uitgevoerd worden. Op deze chip zit eveneens een geïntegreerde videokaart (GMA HD 3150) en een DDR3 geheugen controller.
