I personally didn’t lose much sleep over the XPS rebranding last year, the way many of my colleagues did, but I’m sure the XPS’s triumphant return from exile will make plenty of people happy. What I care far more about, though, is the redesign of these two laptops, particularly the Function keys and the trackpad. Those fixes alone make this the one laptop I’m most excited to test out in the next few weeks, and if Intel Panther Lake can live up to its hype, these two models just might be the laptops to buy in 2026.

It feels like only a year ago that Dell killed all branding on its laptops, telling journalists we were wrong when we almost universally told them they were crazy. That's because it was only a year ago, but the company has seen the error of its ways and it's bringing back XPS, starting with a new Dell XPS 14 and XPS 16. In a CES 2026 pre-briefing, Dell reps didn't mince words. It completely owned the blunder of discontinuing the most recognizable brand in Windows consumer laptops.

The Dell XPS 14 (2026) might be a modern-day “New Coke” situation, but I’m glad the company listened to user feedback and returned to what has always worked for this iconic laptop line. Not only is this a brilliant redemption story, it’s also a fantastic Windows laptop that offers stunning performance and strong battery life in an elegant, refined design. If you aren't tied to the Windows ecosystem and want a notebook that offers even stronger raw performance and longer battery life, the MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) remains an excellent alternative. This is especially true considering the entry-level MacBook Pro costs $600 less than the XPS 14 configuration I reviewed here.

Dell: Dell is een Amerikaanse fabrikant (gevestigd in Texas) van computerhardware, opgericht in 1984 en is een van de grootste internationale fabrikanten, zowel qua marktaandeel als qua notebookmodellen. De productlijn omvat desktops, notebooks, opslagsystemen, monitors, servers, printers, consumentenelektronica en randapparatuur. Dell biedt laptops die geschikt zijn voor verschillende toepassingen, zoals zakelijke laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables en werkstations. De zakelijke laptops uit de Latitude en Precision series van Dell zijn een optie voor professionele gebruikers en bedrijven.

In 2023 had Dell een marktaandeel van ongeveer 17% in de wereldwijde verkoop van pc's en stond daarmee op de derde plaats, na Lenovo en HP.

Voor gameliefhebbers is er Dell's Alienware merk voor gaming notebooks.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Intel Graphics 4 Xe3: De Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 is een geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Panther Lake SoC's met 4 Xe3-kernen (32 EU's / 512 ALU's), 4 raytracing-kernen en een kloksnelheid tot 2450 MHz.

Intel Panther Lake:

Ultra 7 355: Mobiele mid-range 8-core SoC uit de Panther Lake familie met 4 Xe3 GPU-kernen. Net als bij Lunar Lake biedt de ingebouwde NPU 5 50 TOPS en nu ondersteuning voor FP8.

Ultra X7 358H: High-end 16-core SoC uit de Panther Lake-familie voor notebooks met 12 Xe3 GPU-kernen. Net als bij Lunar Lake biedt de ingebouwde NPU 5 50 TOPS en nu ondersteuning voor FP8.
