With that said, I should point out that the device faces stiff competition from laptops like the Acer Swift GO 14, which features a faster processor and a more powerful integrated GPU. Additionally, Acer’s contender comes with Windows Studio effects, which make it a better prospect for office-goers who routinely jump in and out of video calls. It also delivers more performance per buck spent.

EN→NLThe best part about the new Vivobook S series though, is the price. These two laptops, if equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, starts at RM4,399 for the 14-inch and RM4,699 for the 16-inch model. As what I said at the beginning of this video – they’re surprisingly affordable. No cap, I thought this laptop was going to be at least RM5k because of how premium it is. We have a great metal design, great specs, great screen, great keyboard and trackpad, great selection of ports, and also a great battery life. All this for below RM5k is actually a good price.

EN→NLAt RM4,999, the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED has a lot going for it: great CPU performance, amazing efficiency, a solid set of components, and some creature comforts sprinkled all over it. There hasn’t been many occasions I have so little to pick on a product, much less something as complex as a laptop – but I can confidently say this laptop is one of them.

That’s hard to argue with, especially if you catch it for a few hundred dollars off on sale. If you’re looking for a 14-inch laptop with lots of battery life and good software compatibility — no potential issues, as with an ARM-powered Qualcomm Snapdragon X-powered laptop — it’s a solid choice.

EN→NLTo answer the big question: is it worth getting the Asus Vivobook S14 OLED? I would wholeheartedly say so! To give my verdict about the laptop and conclude my findings, I found the laptop to be supremely ideal for most users looking for a thin, light laptop for everyday use. It doesn’t miss out on anything significant, except for a few things like a dedicated GPU, high refresh rate display, and maybe even a touch-screen panel, but most of us won’t mind such commissions if the rest of the things are great, which they are. I can never stop praising OLED screens, and the same goes for this laptop. The performance output is better than expected, especially since it can comfortably run games like Valorant on high settings and heavy software.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
Intel Arc 7-Core: Geïntegreerde grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Xe LPG-architectuur (vergelijkbaar met de speciale Arc GPU's, maar met de nadruk op efficiëntie). Biedt 7 van de 8 Xe-kernen (112 Xe Vector Engines) en 7 ray-tracing-eenheden.
Intel Arc 8-Core: Geïntegreerde grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Xe LPG-architectuur (vergelijkbaar met de speciale Arc GPU's, maar met de nadruk op efficiëntie). Biedt alle 8 Xe cores (128 Xe vector engines) en 8 ray tracing units.
AMD Radeon 780M:
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in de Ryzen 7040 mobiele serie APU's gebaseerd op de RDNA3-architectuur met 12 CU's (= 768 shaders) en een kloksnelheid tot 3 GHz.
Intel Arc 140V: Een behoorlijk snelle geïntegreerde grafische adapter die naar verluidt bepaalde Intel Lunar Lake processors gebruiken. De 140V heeft 8 kernen met Xe²-architectuur die draaien op maximaal 2.050 MHz en 8 ray tracing-eenheden; hij is geschikt voor DirectX 12 Ultimate en ondersteunt ook alle moderne videocodecs. Als recente uitgelekte benchmarkscores een indicatie zijn, zullen de gamingprestaties iets beter zijn dan die van de GeForce MX570.

Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 5 125H: Een middenklasse chip uit de Meteor Lake familie die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-laptopprocessor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 14 kernen (4 + 8 + 2) en 18 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 4 zijn, draaien op maximaal 4,5 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,6 GHz draaien. De 7-core Arc GPU, net uit de oven, doet dienst als geïntegreerde grafische adapter (deze draait op maximaal 2,20 GHz) en er is ook een heleboel andere gloednieuwe technologieën beschikbaar, zoals de geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU met twee Gen 3 engines voor hardware AI-werklastversnelling. Het door Intel aanbevolen "minimaal verzekerd" stroomverbruik van de chip is 28 W, terwijl het maximale Turbo stroomverbruik binnen de 115 W zou moeten liggen.
Ultra 9 185H: Een top-of-the-line Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 16 kernen (6 + 8 + 2) en 22 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 6 zijn, draaien op maximaal 5,1 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. De 8-core Arc GPU, net uit de oven, doet dienst als geïntegreerde grafische adapter - deze draait op maximaal 2,35 GHz - en er is nog een heleboel andere gloednieuwe technologieën beschikbaar, zoals de geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU met twee Gen 3 engines voor hardwarematige AI-werklastversnelling. Het "basis"stroomverbruik van deze laptopprocessor is 45 W, terwijl het Turbo stroomverbruik niet boven de 115 W mag komen.
Ultra 7 155H: Een high-end Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 16 kernen (6 + 8 + 2) en 22 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 6 zijn, draaien op maximaal 4,8 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. AMD Hawk Point (Zen 4/4c):
R9 8945HS: Een krachtige APU uit de Hawk Point familie. Dit is geen geheel nieuwe laptopprocessor, maar een rebadged R9 7940HS (de twee zijn in vrijwel alle opzichten identiek). De 8945HS heeft 8 Zen 4 kernen met SMT-ondersteuning die draaien op 4,0 GHz tot 5,2 GHz voor in totaal 16 verwerkingsthreads en wordt ook geleverd met de tweede generatie Ryzen AI-technologie die Intel's DL Boost- en GNA-technologieën volledig moet overschaduwen. Op grafisch gebied is de topklasse Radeon 780M iGPU aan boord, die af en toe gamen een stuk aangenamer zal maken.
R7 8845HS: Een krachtige Hawk Point-familiechip die in H2 2023 het levenslicht zag. Wij denken dat de 8845HS een vermomde R7 7840HS is. De 8845HS heeft 8 cores (16 threads dankzij SMT-ondersteuning) die op maximaal 5,1 GHz draaien; naast de volledige kracht van de Zen 4-architectuur wordt de chip geleverd met de 2e generatie Ryzen AI-technologie die generatieve AI alomtegenwoordiger zal maken dan ooit tevoren. En last but not least: de Radeon 780M dient als geïntegreerde GPU.
Intel Lunar Lake:
Core Ultra 7 256V: Een processor uit de Lunar Lake familie voor het hogere middensegment. Dit is een SoC voor gebruik in slankere laptops en tablets met 4 nieuwe E-cores en 4 nieuwe P-cores op maximaal 4,8 GHz, samen met de veelbelovende nieuwe Arc 140V iGPU en 16 GB on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Een nieuwe 47 TOPS neurale engine, TB 4 en PCIe 5 SSD ondersteuning zijn ook inbegrepen.
Core Ultra 7 258V: Een processor uit de Lunar Lake familie voor het hogere middensegment. Dit is een SoC voor gebruik in slankere laptops en tablets met 4 nieuwe E-cores en 4 nieuwe P-cores op maximaal 4,8 GHz, samen met de veelbelovende nieuwe Arc 140V iGPU en 32 GB on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM.
