Laptops met een gewicht van minder dan 1kg bestaan al enkele jaren. Waar je eerder rekening moest houden met duidelijke compromissen bij het kopen van een superlichte laptop, zoals een superzuinige processor en een zeer kleine accu, zijn er tegenwoordig modellen met serieuze hardware binnen dit gewicht. De Acer Swift Edge 14 AI is een mooi voorbeeld. De laptop heeft een fraai oledscherm met hoge resolutie, dat bovendien een touchscreen is met een unieke matte afwerking. Inloggen kan met vinger of gezicht, het toetsenbord biedt voldoende travel en er zijn veel aansluitingen aanwezig. De Intel Lunar Lake-processor is geen echt snelheidsmonster, maar biedt voor ultrabookbegrippen prima prestaties. Acer lijkt bovendien voldoende koeling te hebben ingebouwd en er is niet bespaard op de stevigheid van de behuizing.

It even has a keyboard and touchpad combo that feels made for real work, not just faffing about in cafes.

It also has a lovely high-res OLED screen and great battery life. You will have to pay a bit for the privilege, though. The Asus Zenbook A14 is its closest rival, and while it will last longer on a charge, its processor isn’t as powerful and its screen isn’t as detailed or comes with as high a refresh rate, plus it has half the RAM capacity. You are saving £200 for the Asus one, though. With this in mind, I think the Swift Edge 14 AI is the definitive choice for folks wanting a featherweight and potent ultrabook that doesn’t compromise much in any area of its game. Intel Arc 140V: Een behoorlijk snelle geïntegreerde grafische adapter die naar verluidt bepaalde Intel Lunar Lake processors gebruiken. De 140V heeft 8 kernen met Xe²-architectuur die draaien op maximaal 2.050 MHz en 8 ray tracing-eenheden; hij is geschikt voor DirectX 12 Ultimate en ondersteunt ook alle moderne videocodecs. Als recente uitgelekte benchmarkscores een indicatie zijn, zullen de gamingprestaties iets beter zijn dan die van de GeForce MX570.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Core Ultra 7 258V: Een processor uit de Lunar Lake familie voor het hogere middensegment. Dit is een SoC voor gebruik in slankere laptops en tablets met 4 nieuwe E-cores en 4 nieuwe P-cores op maximaal 4,8 GHz, samen met de veelbelovende nieuwe Arc 140V iGPU en 32 GB on-package LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. Een nieuwe 47 TOPS neurale engine, TB 4 en PCIe 5 SSD ondersteuning zijn ook inbegrepen.
