EN→NLGripes aside, I can’t deny this is a fundamentally great gaming laptop with iterative upgrades across the board. It still sort of is my favorite gaming laptop, but it’s just the price that’s wrong for what you get, and that’s a heartbreaker. I know that companies have been upping prices in anticipation of tariff impact, but I can’t say for sure whether that’s happened here. And at the end of the day, none of that matters — what actually matters in gaming laptops is that you’re getting bang for your buck. And at this cost, you’re getting something equivalent to Mentos in Coca-Cola rather than a stick of dynamite. Still a decent bang, but not enough for the buck Asus is asking for.

EN→NLThe Asus TUF A14 is a unicorn of a laptop. It’s surprisingly powerful for such a compact laptop. It has great battery life, which is unusual in any gaming portable. Finally, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, which is not something I expected given its broad spread of talents. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the TUF A14 is one of the most wholly rounded laptops I’ve encountered recently. I could happily live with it as a day-to-day laptop for use in the office and when travelling, but once home, I could plug it in and play DOOM: The Dark Ages with all the lighting and detail effects turned up to 11 at over 100fps. What’s not to like about that?

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Mobiele mid-range videokaart uit de Blackwell familie gebaseerd op de GB206 chip met 3328 shaders en 8 GB GDDR7 grafisch geheugen (128 bit).
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

Ryzen AI 7 350: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in oktober 2024 zijn debuut maakte. De APU met hybride architectuur heeft 8 CPU-kernen (een mix van Zen 5- en Zen 5c-kernen) die op maximaal 5,0 GHz draaien, samen met de Radeon 880M grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. De AMD Secure Processor (in een notendop een on-package ARM co-processor) is ook aan boord, net als een paar andere high-end functies, zoals AMD-Vi. Andere belangrijke kenmerken zijn PCIe 4, USB 4 en tot LPDDR5x-8000 RAM ondersteuning, inclusief ECC RAM. De TDP vermogensdoelstelling voor de lange termijn kan oplopen tot 55 W.
