Nauwelijks sneller dan zijn voorganger: De Ryzen AI 7 450 in de Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14

Sommige productgeneraties maken hun naam niet helemaal waar. Een prominent voorbeeld zijn de nieuwste Ryzen AI-processors van AMD, zoals de Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14 laat zien.

Terwijl Intel lang een voorloper is geweest in het leveren van minimale verbeteringen tussen generaties, lijkt AMD dit voorbeeld geleidelijk te volgen. Een goed voorbeeld hiervan is de Ryzen AI 7 450 in de Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14die we onlangs hebben beoordeeld. In de meeste scenario's zijn zowel de CPU- als GPU-prestaties nauwelijks beter dan die van zijn voorganger, de Ryzen AI 7 350. Hij presteerde zelfs slechter in sommige tests. In sommige tests presteerde hij zelfs slechter, hoewel een paar procentpunten redelijkerwijs kunnen worden toegeschreven aan de foutmarge in onze metingen.

Desondanks zullen veel consumenten - vooral minder technisch onderlegde - meer verwachten van een zogenaamd nieuwe productgeneratie. In het geval van de Ryzen AI 7 450 is deze stagnatie nauwelijks verrassend als u naar de specificaties kijkt. Hij heeft nog steeds acht Zen 5-kernen, met kloksnelheden die slechts met 100 MHz zijn verhoogd. De RAM-ondersteuning is ook marginaal verbeterd (nu tot LPDDR5-8533), hoewel dit bij dagelijks gebruik zelden merkbaar is
