EN→NL Archive.org versionIn my opinion, the 14-inch version of the IdeaPad S540, or even the recently launched Asus VivoBook S431, makes a lot of sense for users who want something thin and lightweight. Lenovo's new Legion Y540 and Asus' TUF Gaming series, on the other hand, make a lot of sense for users who want mid-range PC gaming. At a rather steep price of Rs 66,990, the IdeaPad S540 is neither here nor there. It's a large 15.6-inch mainstream laptop that's trying hard to fit into the Thin and Light category. It's a confused device, frankly.

EN→NL Archive.org versionFrom what we’ve noticed during all extensive tests, we can comfortably say that Lenovo was… kind of right in their statement on the sticker. We are talking about the one, which says “Beyond expected performance”. Currently, the Ideapad S540 (15) is one of the best GeForce MX250-equipped laptops we have had in our hands. What is interesting about it? Well, it is only 17mm thick and weighs just 1.80 kg. Oh yes, and it is built out of aluminum – not plastic.

EN→NL Archive.org versionOverall, I really liked the Lenovo IdeaPad S540. At around Rs 65,000, it’s very reasonably priced, and it’s sanely and sensibly specced. If it’s an unpretentious workhorse that you’re on the lookout for, I really can’t think of a better option in this price range.

NVIDIA GeForce MX250:
Opvolger van de MX150 en nog altijd gebaseerd op dezelfde Pascal GP108-chip (vergelijkbaar met de GT 1030 voor desktops) maar met hogere kloksnelheden. Verkrijgbaar in twee versies, een normale 25 Watt-versie en een energiezuinige versie met een TDP van 10 Watt en verminderde prestaties. De 25 Watt-versie biedt o.a. een 21% hogere boost-kloksnelheid dan de oude MX150, met als gevolg een prestatiewienst van 5%.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
