LG’s decision to stick with the RTX 3050 is the root of the problem. Last year, before the Intel Core Ultra series debuted, the RTX 3050 more than doubled performance over Intel’s Iris Xe integrated graphics. But the launch of Arc graphics brought an integrated upgrade that reduces the RTX 3050’s advantage. The result is a $500 upgrade that’s hardly an upgrade at all. LG’s mistake is worsened by the fact that most competitors, like the Dell XPS 17 and Apple MacBook Pro 16 M3, have received a graphics upgrade since then. In a strange twist of fate, the Intel Core Ultra also hurts the gram Pro 17’s relative processor performance.

LG: LG Electronics Inc. is een dochteronderneming van LG Group. Het is een Zuid-Koreaans bedrijf en werd opgericht als Goldstar Co, Ltd in 1958. De groep biedt producten aan op het gebied van informatietechnologie, consumentenelektronica en mobiele communicatie, en huishoudelijke apparaten. LG Electronics is de op twee na grootste fabrikant van huishoudelijke apparaten ter wereld. Als fabrikant van notebooks werd LG pas in 2005 bekend bij een breder publiek op de Duitstalige markt. Na een paar jaar trok LG zich grotendeels terug uit de laptopsector. Het productassortiment omvat OLED, LED/LCD en plasma TV's, thuisbioscoopsystemen, Blu-ray spelers en audio- en videospelers.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
Intel Arc 8-Core: Geïntegreerde grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Xe LPG-architectuur (vergelijkbaar met de speciale Arc GPU's, maar met de nadruk op efficiëntie). Biedt alle 8 Xe cores (128 Xe vector engines) en 8 ray tracing units.
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop: Instap grafische kaart uit de Blackwell-familie voor Latpops met 2.560 unified shaders (CUDA-kernen) en een kloksnelheid van 1500 - 2662 MHz, afhankelijk van de TDP-instelling. Volgens Nvidia zouden de prestaties zonder DLSS en framegeneratie vergelijkbaar moeten zijn met een RTX 4060.

Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 7 155H: Een high-end Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 16 kernen (6 + 8 + 2) en 22 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 6 zijn, draaien op maximaal 4,8 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. De geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU biedt twee Gen 3 engines voor hardware AI werklastversnelling. Het "minimaal verzekerde" stroomverbruik van deze laptopprocessor is 28 W, terwijl het Turbo-verbruik binnen de 115 W zou moeten blijven.
Intel Arrow Lake:
Ultra 9 285H: High-end mobiele processor gebaseerd op de Arrow Lake architectuur met 16 cores verdeeld over 3 clusters. De 6 snelle P-cores klokken tot 5,4 GHz. Er zijn ook 8 kleinere E-cores met maximaal 4,5 GHz en 2 kleine energiezuinige cores (zelfde architectuur) met maximaal 2,5 GHz. De SoC bevat een kleine NPU met 13 TOPS piekprestaties en ondersteunt vPro Enterprise.
