6-inch koopje. Als je op zoek bent naar een budget smartphone met een groot beeldscherm, dual-SIM en LTE-functionaliteit dan hoef je niet verder te zoeken dan de Galaxy J4 Plus (2018). De smartphone zit goed in elkaar, heeft solide prestaties en is op een paar kleine details na identiek aan de duurdere Galaxy J6 Plus.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9524 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

De Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus (2018) is een indrukwekkende smartphone. Het 6-inch beeldscherm en stijlvolle ontwerp geven de smartphone een duurdere indruk, terwijl de dual-SIM, heldere IPS beeldscherm, lange batterijduur en Android 8.1 Oreo besturingssysteem indrukwekkend zijn voor een goedkope smartphone.

De Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus (2018) is een uitstekende instapniveau smartphone die veel waar voor zijn geld biedt.

De snel ouder wordende Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC doet het in 2018 nog verrassend goed, maar kan niet complexe games zoals Asphalt 9: Legends weergeven. De lijst van minpunten is echter verrassend kort. We hadden graag een vingerafdrukscanner en USB Type-C poort gezien, maar dat bewaart Samsung voor zijn duurdere apparaten. Het ontbreken van USB Type-C betekend ook dat er geen snellaad-functionaliteit is en het apparaat kan alleen verbinding maken met 2.4 GHz netwerken; ons testmodel presteert ondermaats in onze Wi-Fi tests.

Al met al is de Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus (2018) een goede optie voor een ieder die op zoek is naar een budget smartphone met een groot beeldscherm. Het apparaat misstaat niet tussen zijn duurdere Galaxy A- en S-serie familieleden, wat een compliment is naar de kwaliteit van de Galaxy J4 Plus (2018).
