Conclusie - Niet slecht, niet geweldig

De Motorola Moto G 5G Plus biedt zeer goede hardware gecombineerd met een lange batterijduur en een krachtige Snapdragon 765 SoC. Er valt echter genoeg te bekritiseren over de nieuwste protégé uit de Moto G-serie, ondanks zijn lage prijs van zo'n 350 euro
De vormgeving is zeker een kwestie van smaak, maar toch vinden we de dubbele punch-hole toch een beetje jammer, vooral omdat de kwaliteit van de ultragroothoek-selfiecamera de tweede lens overbodig maakt. Ook de overige cameramodules scoren wat ondergemiddeld, zelfs voor deze prijsklasse. De haptiek wordt enigszins tegengewerkt door de plastic elementen van de telefoon en de zeer sterke behuizing, die nodig is vanwege de gigantische batterij van 5.000 mAh. De batterijduur rechtvaardigt de grote batterijcapaciteit niet - we zien nog (veel) ruimte voor optimalisatie op het gebied van energiebeheer.
De Moto G 5G Plus blijkt in onze test een degelijke mid-range smartphone te zijn. Er zijn echter een paar zwakke punten die de algemene indruk van de Motorola-telefoon verpesten.
De inconsistente systeemsnelheid is een beetje verrassend. In het dagelijks leven zijn de prestaties bevredigend, en dankzij het 90Hz-scherm is de bediening lekker soepel, maar in combinatie met slechts 4 GB RAM heeft de Snapdragon 765 in ons testtoestel ongewoon vaak last van haperingen - de gaming-prestaties van de Qualcomm SoC in de Moto G 5G Plus zijn verbazingwekkend slecht, vooral omdat het de Adreno als GPU gebruikt.
