Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

Ter vergelijking: 52 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 20917 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz waargenomen.

Sla open, noteer en denk creatief: de Yoga Book lijkt een hit met zijn vele input-opties in één toestel. Bovendien werden pen-inputs via papier nooit eerder toegepast.

Kan ik mijn laptop nu gewoon weggooien aangezien ik ook mijn Outlook enz. op deze Windows-2-in-1 kan gebruiken? Neen, want de Yoga Book is vooral bedoeld als invoerinterface. Op lezingen, technische stages of gewoon vergaderingen of conventies: sla de Yoga Book open, maakt notities of schets iets creatiefs op 'papier' en bewaar het op OneDrive. Grotere editing-taken of notities/schetsen combineren in krachtige DTP-tools als Adoge inDesign of Photoshop wordt dan uitgevoerd op een meer performante laptop/desktop.

De Yoga Book is enerzijds aantrekkelijk dankzij de natuurlijke schrijfinput via papier, anderzijds is het een volwaardig Windows-toestel. Gebruikers kunnen hun creatieve producties forwarden naar hun gebruikelijke desktop-apps of meteen bewerken tot een zekere limiet.

Een dissertatie zal nog altijd geschreven worden op een goed laptop- of desktop-toetsenbord. De Yoga Book kan het hele proces echter vergemakkelijken. De gebruiker is niet langer gebonden aan de beperkingen van specifieke tools of invoerapparaten.

Geïnteresseerde kopers hebben momenteel geen echte alternatieven. Er bestaat geen ander 2-in-1-toestel op de markt die deze combinatie biedt van extreem hoge mobiliteit (batterijduur, gewicht, behuizing), invoerapparatuur naar wens (touch en AnyPen op het scherm, touch- of pen-input op het 'creative pad', toetsenbord/touchpad) en Windows-apps (office-tools).
