Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd slechter is dan het gemiddelde (25.6 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (41 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 1000 Hz ≤ 99 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 1000 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 99 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 1000 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 52 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 8964 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

De Lenovo ThinkPad A485 bracht hoge verwachtingen: de ThinkPad T-serie, waar de ThinkPad A-serie op gebaseerd is, is extreem populair en er is behoorlijk wat vraag naar goede Ryzen laptops. Deze Ryzen ThinkPad stelt ons echter teleur in de tests.

Zo biedt Lenovo geen QHD beeldscherm voor de ThinkPad A485 en ontbreekt ook Thunderbolt 3. Verder blijven de CPU prestaties ver achter bij het ThinkPad T480 Intel zustermodel. En erger nog, het stroomverbruik is hoger, waardoor de batterijduur extreem slecht is. Dit is slechts gedeeltelijk Lenovo te verwijten daar Ryzen laptops in het algemeen een hoger stroomverbruik hebben dan Intel-gebaseerde modellen.

Natuurlijk zijn heeft de Lenovo ThinkPad A485 ook veel goede eigenschappen, wat in een goed eindoordeel resulteert. Zo zijn er bijvoorbeeld de robuuste behuizing, de uitstekende invoerapparaten en het uitgebreide aanbod aansluitingen. Maar dat krijg je ook allemaal met de ThinkPad 480. Enkel qua grafische prestaties doet de A485 het beter, maar dan enkel in vergelijking met de T480 met geïntegreerde GPU. Het model met de GeForce MX150 doet het ook op dit gebied beter.

Niet aan te raden: de ThinkPad T480 heeft alles wat de ThinkPad A485 een goede laptop maakt, en heeft daarnaast betere CPU prestaties en batterijduur dan de A485.

Onder aan de streep kunnen we de ThinkPad A485 niet aanraden. In praktisch alle opzichten is de Lenovo ThinkPad T480 de betere keuze. Aan de andere kant, als je liever geen Intel CPU's hebt, dan kun je beter kiezen voor de HP EliteBook 745 G5, die een minder slechte batterijduur heeft en wiens beeldscherm ook wat beter is.

Update UEFI versie 1.02: we konden de ThinkPad A485 hertesten met een nieuwere versie van de UEFI BIOS. De batterijduur is nu iets verbeterd, en ook de CPU prestaties bij belasting zijn nu hoger. We hebben de scores dan ook iets herzien en het eindoordeel iets aangepast. Hoewel de ThinkPad T480 nog steeds beter is dan de A485, kan de ThinkPad A485 een interessante optie zijn door zijn relatief betaalbare prijs, zeker als je veel waarde hecht aan GPU prestaties.
