Wie heeft de dunste? Met een "dikte" van slechts 10 milimeter is HP's Spectre 13 zelfs slanker dan sommige tablets. Na zijn lancering in 2016 is het laptop technisch iets vernieuwd. We vatten samen hoe de zilveren HP Spectre scoort in dit testrapport.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde trage responstijden in onze tests en is misschien te traag voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 86 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd slechter is dan het gemiddelde (25.6 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.9 (minimum) tot 636 (maximum) ms. » 72 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd slechter is dan het gemiddelde (41 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 52 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 8773 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

De HP Spectre 13 is zonder twijfel één van de slankste 13.3-inch laptops, zelfs in 2017. De fabrikant heeft een goed compromis bereikt tussen mobiliteit, design en prestaties. Ons testmodel is uitgerust met een snelle Intel Core i7-7500U die, echter, niet permanent de volledige Turbo modus kan gebruiken. Toch is de processor krachtig genoeg voor erg goede systeemprestaties, zeker in samenwerking met de erg snelle NVMe SSD. Naar onze mening is de 8 GB DDR3 RAM op dit moment genoeg, maar was 16 GB DDR4 RAM aanzienlijk toekomstbestendiger geweest.

HP's Spectre 13 is de juiste laptop voor diegenen die waarde hechten aan een elegant uiterlijk, maar niet willen besparen op systeemprestaties. Dat is precies wat HP aanbiedt met zijn Spectre 13.

Maar het is niet overal zonnig en sommige aspecten van de HP Spectre 13 krijgen kritiek. De beperkte beeldschermopties zijn erg jammer omdat een QHD+ beeldscherm de Spectre 13 goed had gepast. Verder is het beperkt aantal aansluitingen, om design-gerelateerde redenen, ook jammer. Al zijn de aansluitingen wel vernieuwd en hebben twee van de drie USB Type-C poorten Thunderbolt 3 ondersteuning, dan nog kan het werken met adapters soms ergernis opwekken. De koper zal voor aankoop moeten beslissen of deze compromissen op lange termijn niet te zwaar wegen. Dan is er ook nog de adviesprijs van € 1599 voor de laptop die we testten, niet echt een lage prijs. Hiervoor krijgt de koper wel een premium apparaat van HP dat al van verre de aandacht zal trekken.
