If you're looking for a non-flashy work laptop with great battery life, lightweight design, good keyboard, and Windows, then the HP OmniBook X is an excellent choice. It has a few drawbacks, but it's not enough to not recommend this. The display may not be as good as the competition, but the LCD panel does have its advantages. Don't let the simple design fool you, the HP OmniBook X is a well-built Windows ultrabook that's great for productivity and some creativity. The alternative is the Dell XPS 13 (9345) (Review), which, while it costs the same, doesn't offer the best typing experience or similar battery life. However, if you compare it with the Asus VivoBook S15 OLED (Review), then the Asus comes out on top.

The HP OmniBook X looks pricey at $1,599.99, but that puts it in the middle of the Copilot Plus PC pack, coming in cheaper than options from Dell, Samsung and Microsoft and in the same ballpark as options from Acer, Asus and Lenovo. It’s also a bit cheaper than a comparable M3 MacBook Air. With that in mind, I think the OmniBook X is decently priced for what it offers. Sure, you might be able to get a better display or a nicer design by paying an extra $200-$300 for an option from another manufacturer, but I don’t think either of those are particularly necessary. The OmniBook X offers overall solid performance and battery life, and top-notch typing experience and a tried-and-true clamshell design, making it a great all-around option. The laptop starts at $1,599.99 at HP, Amazon and Best Buy.

For the price, I can't recommend the HP OmniBook 14, primarily because of its screen. I can live with the speakers, but if I can't enjoy the outstanding battery life and work remotely, there's no point. I hope HP brings an OLED display that is much brighter, and also packs a higher refresh rate with the next iteration of this laptop. Also, with Intel's Lunar Lake-powered laptops on the horizon, you may find something better suited to your needs. If you're specifically looking for an ARM-based computer, particularly a Snapdragon-powered one, there are better options available for much less. I'd only get the HP OmniBook if you are smitten by its well-rounded design, which feels premium, and its battery life, assuming you use the laptop mostly indoors.

That dim display is tough to forgive, but HP really killed the OmniBook X’s chances with that dismal SSD. At the right price, it is worth considering thanks to its great performance, splendidly long battery life, and clicky keyboard, but there are far too many excellent options for around $1,000. If you want something long-lasting and powerful, try the Acer Swift 14 AI. It trades a clicky keyboard for a silky touchpad, and while the color in the display isn’t as good, it’s considerably brighter. Overall, the HP OmniBook X is a decent notebook, but that slow SSD will kill you in the long haul. You’re probably better off getting something else.

It's also fantastic value when you compare it to other laptops with a similar form factor, including the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 and MacBook Air. The one thing that really goes against it is the underwhelming screen, but while it doesn't go as bright as we would like it to, the resolution and color reproduction aren't a serious concern. It might be an OLED panel short of greatness, but the OmniBook X 14 is an excellent buy.

We've covered the Snapdragon, Arm, and Copilot angles extensively by now, with varying degrees of enthusiasm in our conclusions, so let's focus on the HP OmniBook X 14 itself. All Copilot+ PCs will have shared traits, but we like what this HP brings to the table. The design isn't the most exciting, but it's hard not to be impressed at its performance, portability, battery life, and better-than-1080p display, especially at its current sale price. The OmniBook is still not the very best bargain around; the Editors' Choice award-winning Asus Zenbook 14 OLED Touch (UM3406) is a lovely deal (as are many of Asus’ other Zenbooks, like the Q425 mentioned above), and we don't think the Copilot+ PC feature set is a must-have as of today. But if you're itching to join the first generation of AI PCs, and keen to try out Windows on Arm in its latest iteration, the OmniBook X 14 is a great way to go.

The HP OmniBook X is my first experience with a Snapdragon X Elite-based Copilot+ PC machine – and I'm impressed. Qualcomm wasn't wrong. Its processor does, indeed, beat the M3 MacBooks. Plus, it lasts over 16 hours on a charge, a feat that was completely unheard of for Windows laptops in recent times. And finally, the Copilot+ PC aspect makes Windows fun again. The new HP OmniBook X signifies a monumental change for the company’s consumer laptops. Moving forward, OmniBook will slowly replace brands like Envy, Pavilion and Spectre to simplify purchasing an HP notebook. Each consumer device name will now include a number ranging from 3, 5, 7 and X — with 3 and X being the most affordable and high-end options (respectively). Some of the new OmniBooks will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip and feature the new HP AI Helix logo to denote them as AI laptops. At an HP briefing, I briefly went hands-on with the HP OmniBook X. I was impressed by its lightweight design and sturdy aluminum chassis. The 14-inch 2.2K touchscreen is quite nice and I appreciate the inclusion of a USB-A port for legacy devices. I’m also intrigued by the performance and efficiency gains the Snapdragon X Elite chip promises.

Een erg fijne laptop die dicht in de buurt komt van de ervaring die je bij een MacBook hebt, maar dan voor een vriendelijker prijskaartje. Klein minpuntje voor het touchscreen en de oplader, maar verder een hele solide keuze waar ik erg tevrede mee ben. Praktische allrounder. Fijn formaat laptop, makkelijk mee te nemen en snel in gebruik. Touchscreen laat ik links liggen, te gevoelig voor vingers. Qua look & feel heeft hij een beetje die Macboook-uitstraling.

Een 2-in-1 apparaat klinkt natuurlijk geweldig. Maar je weet hoe het gaat. Als je 2 dingen goed wilt doen, blijkt het achteraf altijd net niet te zijn. Zo ervaar ik het ook in dit geval. Om te beginnen met het laptop gedeelte. Daar heb ik weinig op aan te merken. Hij voelt robuust aan door de metalen behuizing, het scherm is qua resolutie en grootte prima voor een werklaptop. Ik zet hem op een standaard naast mijn scherm die ik aansluit via USB-c en ik kan alles doen wat ik nodig heb. Het toetsenbord en touchpad zijn ook van premium kwaliteit. Ik denk op den duur dat het toetsenbord wel vingerafdrukken gaat aanmaken, dit omdat een glad overvlak is en niet van een klein structuurlaagje is voorzien wat mijn losse HP toetsenbord wel heeft.Echter de tablet-modus heb ik zo mijn twijfels over.

I really like it even at full price, but I've seen enough discounts this early in the OmniBook X Flip's life span to know HP designed this laptop with deals in mind, rather than the premium choices among the best Windows laptops. If you want to configure your own HP OmniBook X Flip 14 (2025), those prices start from $1,129.99 at HP for the AMD versions and from $999.99 at HP for the Intel versions. The lowest possible prices, though, will get you the OmniBook X Flip 14 for $899.99 at Best Buy with AMD or $849.99 at Best Buy with Intel (just keep in mind those potential sales, it may be worth waiting).

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is an eminently configurable convertible laptop. Prefer Intel chips? Not a problem. Favor AMD? You can get those, too. Want to keep the price to a minimum? You can spend as little as $550. Willing to pay more for an OLED display? You can nab a sweet-looking, 3K-resolution OLED panel for only an additional $100. My test system features a number of upgrades, including the OLED display, and still costs a reasonable $1,150 at its sale price, direct from HP. That's a great price for a two-in-one with an OLED surrounded by a stylish and sturdy design. The 3K OLED panel doesn't do any favors for battery life, but it supplies the regular OLED goodies of incredible contrast with effectively zero-nit black levels and vibrant colors that pop. And the 3K resolution keeps things looking extra crisp, while the 120Hz refresh rate delivers smooth movement.

While Windows laptops have been seeing leaps and bounds forward in terms of battery life, the HP OmniBook X Flip 14 fails to take much more than a few steps forward. The AMD processor is part to blame, but HP bears some responsibility as well. When you then factor in that the system is a little boring, has a contentious keyboard, and comes with a price tag that puts it in dangerous waters, it just becomes a laptop that’ll be easy to overlook. When Asus can pack in a better CPU, discrete graphics, and make its system run longer for close to the same price, what shot does the HP OmniBook X Flip 14 really have? The answer: not a very good one, unless HP wants to keep the huge discounts it was offering toward the tail end of my testing.

HP: Het Amerikaanse bedrijf werd opgericht in 1939 en is een belangrijke server- en printerfabrikant en een van de toonaangevende IT-bedrijven ter wereld. Tot 2015 heette het bedrijf Hewlett-Packard Company. Na een splitsing werd de computerdivisie omgedoopt tot HP Inc.

In 2023 had HP een geschat marktaandeel van 22% van de wereldwijde pc-verkoop, waarmee het nummer 2 werd na Lenovo.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: Een geïntegreerde grafische adapter waar verschillende Snapdragon X Elite en X Plus processors over beschikken. De Adreno heeft geen SUHD 4320p monitorondersteuning en is wat prestaties betreft niet veel sneller dan de verouderende 96 EU Intel Iris Xe iGPU.

AMD Radeon 860M: Een vrij krachtige iGPU met RDNA 3.5 architectuur die begin 2025 debuteerde en een directe opvolger is van de Radeon 760M. De 8 CU's/WGP's (512 unified shaders) draaien op maximaal 3 GHz. DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing, AI-beeldgeneratie en andere moderne functies worden allemaal ondersteund, net als veel populaire videocodecs, waaronder in de eerste plaats AVC, HEVC, VP9 en AV1. Qualcomm Snapdragon X:

SD X Elite X1E-78-100: Een systeem-op-een-chip met ARM-architectuur voor gebruik in Windows-laptops. De X1E-78-100 is het langzaamste lid van de Snapdragon X Elite productfamilie, vanaf mei 2024; als zodanig heeft het 12 Oryon CPU-kernen (8 P-cores en 4 E-cores) die op niet meer dan 3,4 GHz draaien en een 3,8 TFLOPS Adreno GPU. Een 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, een indrukwekkend snelle LPDDR5x-8448 geheugencontroller, USB 4.0 ondersteuning, TB 4 ondersteuning en PCIe 4 ondersteuning zijn inbegrepen om het geheel zoeter te maken.

AMD :

Ryzen AI 7 350: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in oktober 2024 zijn debuut maakte. De APU met hybride architectuur heeft 8 CPU-kernen (een mix van Zen 5- en Zen 5c-kernen) die op maximaal 5,0 GHz draaien, samen met de Radeon 880M grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. De AMD Secure Processor (in een notendop een on-package ARM co-processor) is ook aan boord, net als een paar andere high-end functies, zoals AMD-Vi. Andere belangrijke kenmerken zijn PCIe 4, USB 4 en tot LPDDR5x-8000 RAM ondersteuning, inclusief ECC RAM. De TDP vermogensdoelstelling voor de lange termijn kan oplopen tot 55 W.

Ryzen AI 5 340: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Krackan Point-familie die begin 2025 werd geïntroduceerd. De APU bevat 6 CPU-kernen (drie Zen 5-kernen met maximaal 4,8 GHz en drie Zen 5c-kernen met maximaal 3,4 GHz). De geïntegreerde Ryzen AI levert tot 50 INT8 TOPS voor het versnellen van verschillende AI workloads.
