EN→NLThere’s a lot to like with the HP OmniBook 7 Aero, from its portability and somewhat unique look to its surprisingly robust performance. I would definitely recommend it as one of the best laptops out there for anyone wanting a lightweight Windows laptop to take on the road. I also appreciate the port selection offered, as the best Ultrabooks typically come pretty limited in this department, usually limiting you to two USB-C ports. Digital nomads will like the quality of the webcam as well as the fact that it has a physical shutter. Really, it doesn’t feel like the thin and light nature of the HP OmniBook 7 Aero compromises on too much to get to its size or price point.

EN→NLThe HP OmniBook 7 Aero is a little marvel of a laptop. At 2.2 pounds with a beautiful white all-metal design, I loved using it, and I loved picking it up and moving it around. It stayed cool and quiet, too. Unfortunately, HP’s decision to include a small battery—possibly to keep the weight down —feels like a compromise that impairs the usability of this machine. I loved this laptop the first time I touched it, but I winced when I saw the battery spec: 43 Watt-hours is just too low for this AMD chip. This number used to be fine but, in a post-Lunar Lake and post-Qualcomm Snapdragon X world, this is low. If you’ll never be far from an outlet and you want more multithreaded CPU performance than Intel’s Lunar Lake can deliver, this might be the ideal laptop for you.

EN→NLI rather enjoyed my time with the HP OmniBook 7 Aero more than I expected. It has enough power to keep up with my average workday and sufficient battery life to last around 10-12 hours on a single charge. The only major drawbacks to the OmniBook 7 Aero are its dull, lifeless display and expensive upgrades. However, it's a great deal if you can get it on sale or if you're willing to opt for the Ryzen AI 5 340 configuration. If you need a laptop with a highly accurate display, the Asus Zenbook S 14's OLED display panel makes it a significantly better option that gets roughly the same amount of battery life and similar performance. Meanwhile, if you need to stay on a tight budget, the HP OmniBook 5 is a far better deal. But if you're looking for a powerful, lightweight laptop to commute with, the featherweight OmniBook 7 Aero is hard to beat.

EN→NLThe HP OmniBook 7 14-inch is a very competent all-round laptop that shines in key areas. Its design, outright performance, display, and battery life are all worthy of praise, while the only real drawbacks are minor concerns, such as the lack of key dampening and an impractical placement of the ports. The price is steep, particularly in some regions, but if you see it with a big discount as we have, the OmniBook 7 is hard to beat as your next mid-range purchase.

EN→NLDevices like this with 16-inch screens often get lumped into the ‘desktop replacement’ category - a machine that’s a little too large to slip into your bag but easy enough to tidy away when someone comes to visit. The OmniBook X Flip 16 changes this perception by creating a large two-in-one laptop with a touchscreen that can be folded back to make it a kind of pseudo-tablet, with stylus compatibility. The model we have here uses an IPS screen that’s not ideal for perfect colour reproduction, but shows how good a screen this big can be for photo editing and digital painting.

EN→NLListen, no one device is going to hit every single need or want of every user. This is true for the HP OmniBook 7 Aero. I think there is an audience that is looking for something as portable as this laptop and is willing to give up a few things, or at least some things don’t matter as much as the portability of the laptop. Here are my key takeaways, both good and bad, of this ultraportable laptop. Overall, the HP OmniBook 7 Aero has its pros and cons. It’s not going to tick every box off your list, but it may tick more than you think. It’s well worth considering if you’re looking for a very light, ultraportable. The HP OmniBook 7 Aero weighs only 2.2 lbs. That’s lighter than the MacBook Air 13, which clocks in at 2.7 lbs.

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:
