Nogmaals, de top-of-the-line Nvidia GPU-optie is niet noodzakelijk altijd sneller dan de volgende optie, afhankelijk van de implementatie of dikte van de laptops in kwestie.

De Alienware Area-51 is bijna 60 procent zwaarder en 2x zo groot als de nieuwe Razer Blade 16. Daardoor kan het Dell-systeem GeForce RTX 50 GPU's op hogere vermogensniveaus draaien dan op de Razer, voor snellere prestaties. Het voordeel is groot genoeg dat de Area-51 uitgerust met de RTX 5080 soms beter presteert dan de Blade 16 uitgerust met de RTX 5090 tijdens het gamen - zelfs wanneer de Alienware GPU is ingesteld op slechts 150 W TGP in plaats van de volledige 175 W.

Als voorbeeld vergelijken onze onderstaande benchmarks de Area-51 RTX 5080 in Balanced modus met de Blade 16 RTX 5090 in Performance modus. Terwijl synthetische 3DMark-benchmarks laten zien dat het Razer-systeem een voorsprong heeft, wordt het verhaal minder duidelijk bij het uitvoeren van echte games. Titels als Monster Hunter Wilds en Assassin's Creed Shadows waren consequent in het voordeel van de Alienware, terwijl andere zoals Cyberpunk 2077 en Indiana Jones met slechts enkele procentpunten in de buurt kwamen. De extra 8 GB VRAM op de mobiele RTX 5090 is daarom in de meeste gamescenario's geen spelbreker.

Door de Alienware in de "Overdrive" modus te laten werken in plaats van in de gebalanceerde modus, zouden de voordelen ten opzichte van de Blade 16 nog verder toenemen met nog eens 5 tot 10 procent of zo tijdens het gamen.

Dit fenomeen is niet nieuw, aangezien soortgelijke resultaten werden waargenomen op gaming laptops van de vorige generatie die op oudere GeForce RTX 40 hardware draaiden. De grootte is nog steeds net zo belangrijk als de namen van de GPU's voor gebruikers die zoveel mogelijk prestaties uit hun laptops willen halen.
