Garmin Forerunner 255, Forerunner 255s, Forerunner 255 Music, Forerunner 255s Music and Forerunner 955 all lined up for release
The Singapore Telecom Licensing System (TLS) has offered some insight into the state of upcoming Garmin smartwatches. While the company has already released several smartwatches this year, most recently with the Quatix 7 series, it is also expected to reveal successors to the Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 945. Incidentally, Garmin is rumoured to have developed the Venu Sq 2 and the Vivomove trend, too.
Not only has TLS listed the Forerunner 255, it has also listed the Forerunner 255s, confirming earlier leaks. Reportedly, the Forerunner 255 will arrive with a 47 mm case, 5 mm larger than the 42 mm diameter that the Forerunner 255s is thought to offer. Unsurprisingly, TLS reports that the Forerunner 255 series supports ANT+, Bluetooth and GPS; we doubt that Garmin will release LTE versions of either smartwatch, though. Moreover, the agency has added dedicated 'Music' versions as the Forerunner 255 Music and Forerunner 255s Music, respectively. Based on other Garmin 'Music' smartwatches, the Forerunner 255 Music and Forerunner 255s Music should feature more storage than their non-Music siblings, along with Wi-Fi connectivity.
Furthermore, TLS has updated its database to include the Forerunner 955, assigned the model number A04244. Currently, the agency has only confirmed that the smartwatch will feature ANT+, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, which should all be expected of an expensive smartwatch like a Forerunner 945 successor. For some reason, TLS has not added the Forerunner 955 Solar, which leaked last month. As Gadgets & Wearables notes, this could indicate that Garmin will introduce a Solar model after releasing the Forerunner 955. Either way, the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 series are tipped to launch as soon as next month.
