However, we would certainly not recommend this machine because of its cooling issues. We’re not sure whether the issue concerns the thermal compound in use or just a poor design. Basically, you’re better off picking an ASUS TUF A15/A17, or the Legion Y540 (15) from last year.

If you like the design of the Dell G15 but want something cheaper, you can opt for the GTX 1650 variant that’s priced at RM3849 instead. Alternatively, you could opt for the ASUS TUF F15, which comes with an Intel Core i7-11800H processor, up to an RTX 3060, and 144Hz display from the price of RM4199. If you want a laptop that has both the looks and the performance, then the ASUS Zephyrus G14, priced from RM4799, would be a better candidate.

EN→NLFor its price, the Dell G15 Ryzen Edition is actually not bad. I would recommend going for at least 16GB of dual-channel memory if you care about rock steady performance. Not only will it help in gaming, it will also be great for web browsing if you happen to be someone who has to deal with a lot of Chrome tabs. For consumers who are looking for something that isn’t too expensive, but powerful enough to handle everyday tasks as well as most gaming titles with ease, the Dell G15 Ryzen Edition is not going to disappoint. The AMD Ryzen 5600H is a pretty capable chipset and can deliver great raw performance and it pairs well with the RTX 3050 GPU. There are a few concerns that you need to consider. Firstly, it isn’t great for portability as it is quite chunky, at the same time, the battery life is not impressive. Hence, this notebook is great for someone who needs a desktop replacement. In fact, I would definitely suggest hooking it to an external monitor with a good mouse and keyboard combo. The display is also somewhat of a compromise, but at least Dell offers the option of upgrading to a better panel.

EN→NLIf we have to be completely frank, Dell did surprise us with this one. They fixed arguably the biggest issue of their gaming notebooks – the cooling. This allows for more powerful GPUs to be used, which is perfect, considering the wide range of TGP options from NVIDIA this year. And we were absolutely right to be excited about the high TGP RTX 3050 Ti used inside of this device. It runs at very high frequencies and delivers a very good performance in games. Ultimately, this makes it the perfect entry-to-mid-range gaming option. Additionally, the smaller battery (56Wh) achieves 8 hours and 20 minutes of Web browsing, and 8 hours and 3 minutes of video playback, which is also great for a gaming machine. Dell G15 5515’s 120Hz display option (Innolux 7XGNJ-156HRA (CMN1522)) has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio.

EN→NLIf your main purpose is to get a relatively affordable gaming laptop, then the G15 5511 is a great choice. It offers great performance, even with the RTX 3050 Ti. And it manages to stay cool at the same time. Interestingly, even though there was a VBIOS update for the graphics card, we were still unable to hit the 95W TGP limit. This time, there was more headroom in the cooling, even though the GPU was consuming more than 10W more power, and the frequency was slightly higher. You should keep in mind that neither the keyboard, nor the touchpad is gaming-worthy, and we advise on getting at least an external mouse. Also, the all-plastic build is a bit heavy for the class, especially in 2021. Nevertheless, the upgrade options that include two SODIMM slots for memory, and two M.2 slots for storage expansion, are great. Unfortunately, if you need to service your laptop’s thermal paste in the future, you have to brace yourself for a long process. It’s not difficult, but the reasons to put the cooling on the inside part of the motherboard are puzzling for us.

Dell: Dell is een Amerikaanse fabrikant (gevestigd in Texas) van computerhardware, opgericht in 1984 en is een van de grootste internationale fabrikanten, zowel qua marktaandeel als qua notebookmodellen. De productlijn omvat desktops, notebooks, opslagsystemen, monitors, servers, printers, consumentenelektronica en randapparatuur. Dell biedt laptops die geschikt zijn voor verschillende toepassingen, zoals zakelijke laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables en werkstations. De zakelijke laptops uit de Latitude en Precision series van Dell zijn een optie voor professionele gebruikers en bedrijven.
In 2023 had Dell een marktaandeel van ongeveer 17% in de wereldwijde verkoop van pc's en stond daarmee op de derde plaats, na Lenovo en HP.
Voor gameliefhebbers is er Dell's Alienware merk voor gaming notebooks.
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Mobile:
Grafische kaart uit het middensegment voor laptops die gebruik maken van een Turing TU117 chip zonder raytracing en Tensor kernen. Moet iets sneller zijn dan een GTX 1650, maar is ook verkrijgbaar in verschillende varianten met een TGP variërend van 55 - 80 Watt (en twee pakketten).
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile:
Mid-range discrete grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de GTX 1660 Ti voor desktops en dus de Turing-architectuur zonder ray-tracing en Tensor-cores. De prestaties van de Max-P-variant zouden vergelijkbaar moeten zijn met die van een oudere GTX 1070.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile:
Mid-range tot high-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Turing-architectuur met ray-tracing en 1920 shaders. Beschikt over verlaagde kloksnelheden ten opzichte van de vergelijkbaar genaamde desktop-variant.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile:
High-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de TU106-chip met 2304 shaders en 8 GB GDDR6-VRAM. In vergelijking met de desktop-variant is de GPU lager geklokt.

i5-10300H:
Op Comet Lake architectuur (4e gen van Skylake) gebaseerde processor voor grote en zware laptops. Integreert vier processorkernen geklokt op 2,5 - 4,5 GHz (4,2 GHz met 4 kernen) die HyperThreading ondersteunen.
i7-10750H:
Een krachtige hexa-core processor ontworpen voor de dikkere laptops met ruimte voor betere thermiek. De Comet Lake-H-processor is vervaardigd op het third-gen 14 nm Intel-proces en is voorzien van de UHD Graphics 630 iGPU geklokt op 350 MHz tot 1.150 MHz. De CPU-kernen draaien op 2,6 GHz (basiskloksnelheid) met een boost tot 5 GHz en de waarschijnlijke all-core Boost-frequentie is 4,3 GHz. Hyper-Threading ondersteuning is ingeschakeld, waardoor twee threads gelijktijdig kunnen draaien op elke core.
i7-10870H:
Op Coffee Lake gebaseerde processor voor grote en zware laptops. Integreert acht processorkernen geklokt op 2,2 - 5 GHz (alle 8 kernen tot 4,2 GHz) die HyperThreading ondersteunen. Vervaardigd op het derde-gen 14 nm Intel-proces.
i5-10200H:
Op Comet Lake-architectuur (4e gen van Skylake) gebaseerde processor voor grote en zware laptops. Integreert vier processorkernen geklokt op 2,4 - 4,1 GHz die HyperThreading ondersteunen. Identiek aan de Core i5-9300H maar met ondersteuning voor sneller RAM.

Tiger Lake (H45-serie) gebaseerde high-end hexa-core SoC voor gaming laptops en werkstations. De zes CPU-kernen klokken met 2,6 - 4,4 GHz. De geïntegreerde UHD Graphics GPU biedt 32 kernen op maximaal 1,4 GHz. De chip is vervaardigd in het 10nm SuperFin (verbeterd 10nm) proces.

Een op Alder-Lake gebaseerde mobiele processor met 6 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatiekernen bieden hyper-threading, waardoor 20 threads kunnen worden verwerkt. De processor werkt op frequenties van 1,7 tot 4,7 GHz en ondersteunt vPro.
