There's no other laptop with the size, looks and features of the VivoBook S15 S510 available for the same kind of money right now. This is a full-size notebook with a 15-inch screen and yet a compact footprint and weight of around 3.6 lbs, a notebook that offers a backlit keyboard, matte IPS screen, good IO, fast wireless and modern hardware for around $700-$800 for the best buy configurations. The downsides are the somewhat flimsy plastic main-chassis, the rather small 43 Wh battery and the mediocre webcam, but I reckon many will be able to look past these in the grand scheme of what this VivoBook is, that's why it gets a solid rating in this review and our recommendation. Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
Intel HD Graphics 620:
Geïntegreerde GPU (GT2) te vinden op sommige Kaby-Lake CPU modellen (ULV 15 W serie).
NVIDIA GeForce 940MX:
Mid-range grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Maxwell-architectuur. In vergelijking met de oudere 940M biedt de MX nu ook ondersteuning voor GDDR5 grafisch geheugen en wellicht iets hogere kloksnelheden.
NVIDIA GeForce MX150:
Pascal GP108-gebaseerde grafische kaart voor laptops en laptop-versie van de GeForce GT 1030 voor desktops. Biedt 384 shader-cores en meestal 2 GB GDDR5 met een 64-bit-geheugenbus. Gefabriceerd in 14nm.
Intel UHD Graphics 620:
Geïntegreerde GPU (GT2, 24 EU's) die je terugvindt in sommige CPU-modellen van de Kaby Lake-refresh (15-Watt ULV-serie). Technisch identiek aan de vorige Kaby Lake-GPU genaamd HD Graphics 620.
NVIDIA GeForce MX130:
Mainstream grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Maxwell-architectuur. Hernoemde GeForce 940MX.

Kaby Lake-gebaseerd SoC met twee CPU-core geklokt aan 2.7 - 3.5 GHz en Hyper Threading en gefabriceerd aan de hand van een verbeterd 14nm-proces.
Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:
i5-8550U:
Zuinige quad-core-processor gebaseerd op Kaby-Lake-refresh. De vier cores zijn geklokt aan 1.8 tot 4 GHz (Turbo Boost) en ondersteunen HyperThreading. De geïntegreerde GPU is geklokt aan 300 tot 1150 MHz. De SoC is gefabriceerd in een 14nm+ FinFET-proces.
i5-8250U:
Energiezuinige quad-core-processor gebaseerd op de Kaby Lake-refresh. De vier cores zijn geklokt aan 1.6 - 3.4 GHz (Turbo Boost) en ondersteunen HyperThreading. De geïntegreerde GPU is geklokt aan 300 - 1100 MHz. Het SoC is gefabriceerd in een 14nm+ FinFET-proces.

Dit gewicht is typisch voor erg grote tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks en convertibles met een 11-13 inch schermdiagonaal.
2 kg:
Gewoonlijk hebben subnotebooks, ultrabooks en redelijk lichte laptops met een 12-16 inch schermdiagonaal dit gewicht.
78.17%: Dit cijfer is niet echt overtuigend. Het moet in acht worden genomen dat er bijna geen laptops zijn die een score onder de 60% hebben. Dit notebook is beneden gemiddeld beoordeeld, en is niet aanbevolen te kopen.
