This specific variant retails for PHP 62,995 only, which is not bad considering what it can do. If that’s a bit too expensive for you, there’s also the more affordable ASUS Gaming X16 with an NVIDIA RTX 3050 for just PHP 49,995, but that uses an older 13th Gen Intel i5 chip. On the flip side, if you want more power, there is a variant of the G16 featuring an NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU for PHP 74,995.For reference, the laptops come with a free ASUS backpack, 3-Months Xbox Game Pass, ASUS 2-Year International Coverage, and 1-Year Accidental Damage Warranty.Still, it’s far from perfect.

EN→NLOkay then, should you buy this ASUS V16 laptop? Do I recommend it? I do think it’s a pretty good budget gaming laptop, all things considered. We do have an upgrade path – and I personally advise you to get another stick of 16GB DDR5 RAM the instant you get this laptop – and the performance is actually very good for 1080p gaming. I mean, at the price of RM3,999 only, I think it’s a great deal. Granted, the screen isn’t the best here but we can get a good 24-inch external 1080p monitor these days for a very low price.

EN→NLThe Asus V16 aims at the budget class of all-purpose laptops, a jack of all trades around the 1000 USD/EUR/GBP mark. That means it has to compromise here and there, so you're getting a fair chassis with alright ergonomics, but older generation hardware, a washed out display and lousy audio. The RTX 5050 configuration discussed here is arguably an interesting performer, but still needs to come down in price to be a competitive choice - should happen later in the year.

EN→NLThe ASUS V16 is an interesting gaming laptop. It doesn’t try to outmuscle its flashier ROG siblings, and it certainly doesn’t match the polish of something like Gigabyte’s Aero 16X that I just tested not long ago. Even its compromises are obvious: the screen is underwhelming, the keyboard layout isn’t perfect, and you’ll sometimes need to dial back game settings to keep things smooth. But it also has strengths worth noting. Intel’s Core 7 240H gives it an edge in creator workloads, battery life outpaces what you’d expect from its smaller pack, and the overall design doesn’t scream “gamer” – a plus if you need one laptop that works for both the office and home. The bigger question is whether the extra S$200 for the Aero 16X is worth it.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU:
Grafische kaart voor gaming-laptops uit het middensegment, gebaseerd op de Ampere GA107-chip. Biedt 2560 shaders en wordt aangeboden in verschillende TGP (stroomverbruik) varianten van 35 tot 80 Watt met verschillende kloksnelheden en dus prestaties. Vernieuwing van de RTX 3050 met 6 GB, hoger aantal shaders maar een verminderde geheugenbandbreedte van 96 bit.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU:
Grafische kaart uit het middensegment voor laptops gebaseerd op de Ada Lovelace-architectuur. Biedt 6 GB GDDR6 (96 bit) en is configureerbaar met een TGP van 35 - 115 W (+ Dynamic Boost).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop: Instap grafische kaart uit de Blackwell-familie voor Latpops met 2.560 unified shaders (CUDA-kernen) en een kloksnelheid van 1500 - 2662 MHz, afhankelijk van de TDP-instelling. Volgens Nvidia zouden de prestaties zonder DLSS en framegeneratie vergelijkbaar moeten zijn met een RTX 4060.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Mobiele mid-range videokaart uit de Blackwell familie gebaseerd op de GB206 chip met 3328 shaders en 8 GB GDDR7 grafisch geheugen (128 bit).

Intel Raptor Lake-H:
Core 7 240H: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 6 prestatie-kernen en 4 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading voor in totaal 16 threads. De CPU draait op 1,8 tot 5,2 GHz. Vergeleken met de oudere Core i7-13620H biedt de Core 7 240H hogere kloksnelheden (vooral Turbo Boost) en ondersteuning voor DDR5-5600.
Core 5 210H: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 4 prestatie-kernen en 4 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading, waardoor er 12 verwerkingsthreads zijn. De CPU draait op maximaal 4,8 GHz.

Gewoonlijk hebben subnotebooks, ultrabooks en redelijk lichte laptops met een 12-16 inch schermdiagonaal dit gewicht.
