In our tests, it performed a little faster than the larger 2022 Scar 17, and significantly faster than the previous 2021 generation based on AMD hardware, thanks to the updated hardware and the implementation of a MUX. On the other hand, the components still run hot inside on the stock Turbo mode, especially on the GPU side now, the efficiency of the Intel Alder Lake platform leaves to desire, and there are still some ergonomic quirks that you'll have to accept if you'll decide on one of these.

Nevertheless, the company has done enough on its own to provide you with the best gaming experience. First and foremost, you get a 150W graphics card (or a 140W if you get the RTX 3060). If we were in your place, we would at least go for the RTX 3070 Ti, so that you can take full advantage of the higher resolution of the WQHD panel. Other features include Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5G Ethernet connection, both of which ensure a stable and ultra-fast online experience. That is, of course, if your Internet plan provides a fast-enough connection. For what it’s worth, we would recommend this laptop with two out of two hands. The liquid metal thermal compound makes it a king in computational performance, while the TGP of the graphics card is perfectly calculated for a comfortable gaming experience.

The Strix Scar 15 is a great gaming laptop but it’s hard to recommend it over the Scar Strix 17. For an extra £150 you get double the RAM, a larger display, a slightly better speaker system and an expanded keyboard. Granted, the Strix Scar 17 is 600g heavier and 40mm wider and gets very hot in places but I’m struggling to think of a situation in which those extra grammes and millimetres will make much difference. The extra 16GB of RAM and 1.7inches of screen diagonal are both well worth having, too. If your heart is set on a 15.6inch gaming machine then the Strix 15 is undoubtedly a satisfying ownership proposition but if you can accommodate the extra size and weight the Strix 17 is the more rounded package.

No two ways about it, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 is one of the most impressive gaming laptops we’ve reviewed – the first with Intel’s Alder Lake CPU. From its peppy CPU to the spirted RTX 3070 Ti GPU; it outpaces the competition and it does so at a price below $3000. Although still expensive, this is remarkable. You’ll love the fabulous display and a wonderful keyboard and you have a powerful piece of equipment, with the only thing to complain about being the lack of a built-in webcam and fingerprint reader. Given the beast the Strix Scar 15 is, however, we can easily overlook such weaknesses. If you’re in the market for the best gaming laptop two grand can buy, look no further. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 G533ZW-AS94 is the best you’ve been waiting for. However, if you need it thin, light and portable, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 (RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 9) is a great companion for gaming on the go.

Honestly, there isn’t a perfect gaming laptop, but this one here has it all. The fastest CPU to date and the powerful RTX 3070 Ti make this laptop a strong gaming performer and have good battery life. The combo of the processor and the GPU alone is well worth the price, especially in this situation where the chip supply chains are disrupted. As a result, if you want to take a gaming desktop power on the go, then this 2022 ROG Strix Scar G533ZW-AS94 with i9 12900H comes strongly recommended!

Na eerdere ervaringen met Alienware en Razer gaming laptops is deze laptop echt een verademing. Normaliter ben ik wel een sucker voor design, maar besloot dit keer toch voor rauwe performance te gaan. De Scar vervangt een Razer met 2070 GPU, die bij het minste of geringste al tekeer ging als een stofzuiger, en dan blijkt juist de tweak tool van Razer de boosdoener te zijn. Daarbij kwam nog dat de Razer schroefjes dermate bagger kwaliteit zijn dat ik bij het eerste openen om een ssd toe te voegen al een schroef dol draaide en ik niet meer bij de internals kon. Hoe anders is dan de Rog Strix Scar. Solide design, stevige schroeven, en met de armoury crate kun je een heel eind komen qua cooling en lighting profielen. Het valt me ook op dat er een enorm aanbod is aan reserve-onderdelen. De eerste indrukken qua performance zijn uitstekend, de alder lake i9 icm de 3080 ti zijn uitstekend in gaming. De laptop openen is even wat scary omdat de bodemplaat los moet klikken (hiervoor heb je wel van die plastic tooltjes nodig) en er twee rgb kabels aan de plaat zitten die je snel los trekt. SSD's en memory zijn vervangbaar, maar meer dan de 32GB die er al in zit ga ik niet nodig hebben. Bij het terug aansluiten van de accu vonkte de connector, dus ik dacht dat ik de laptop al had opgeblazen maar dat bleek mee te vallen. De aura editor leek bij mij niet te werken (op play drukken deed niks qua lighting), maar dat komt omdat je de windows fast boot in de windows config moet uitzetten, anders is de juiste driver niet geladen.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.

Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.

Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.

De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).

High-End laptop grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Ampere GA103S chip. Op het moment van de lancering begin 2022 is de 3080 Ti de snelste laptop grafische kaart op de markt.

Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

Een op Alder-Lake gebaseerde mobiele processor met 6 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatiekernen bieden hyper-threading, waardoor 20 threads kunnen worden verwerkt. De processor werkt op frequenties van 1,8 tot 5 GHz en ondersteunt vPro.
